I've avoided installing Catalina or Big Sur on my main Mac because I still use these three applications:
  • iPhoto
  • iTunes
  • QuickTime 7 Pro
iPhoto and iTunes can be made to run on Big Sur, and maybe I'll end up liking Photos and Music anyway, but can anyone recommend a replacement for QuickTime 7 Pro?

Is there anything that behaves the same in terms of editing short videos, especially using keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse?

Thanks for the suggestion but maybe this thread helps explain what I mean?

QuickTime Pro 7 was a very different kind of video editor compared to QuickTime X or iMovie.

What I'm looking for most is the ability to select video using Shift and the arrow keys, Command-X or Command-C the selected video, use the arrow keys to choose the playback position, and to then simply Command-V the copied video at that point.

Using the keyboard to do all that with frame-level precision, and not needing to create any kind of project or use a clips library or the like, is what I'm after.
