Hello everyone!

I love to use TextSniper on my M1 MBA.

But I can't find a similar app which works on my iMac (2019) under Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6.

I need an app to extract and recognize any non-searchable and non-editable text on my Mac's screen (OCR) and copy it to my clipboard.

I like to grab only an area with text and not the full window.

Is there an app that could do this in Mojave?

Thanks

I don't think so.

Why have you not updated from Mojave to a more recent macOS? Preferably Ventura. Apart from solving your TextSniper problem, you would gain a better performing and more secure computer along with consistency between your two Macs.

Picatext?

I don’t know it’s os requirements

Shottr has an older build that works on 10.14. It's a fantastic tool that has replaced TextSniper for me. Worth a try for $0.

Yes, I'm reluctant to upgrade, because I'm worried about perhaps once again losing some of the mac OS beloved features as in the past.

Examples: I know it's been a long time, but I still miss deeply the old SPACES and the COVER FLOW function.

It seems I am not alone:

But I should test Ventura on my MBA M1 on which Big Sur is still running.

Thanks kmaute, but shotrr customer service mailed me: ... OCR ... not supported on macOS 10.14

I found this one - it is not as as comfortable as TextSniper, but it works on Mojave:

Thank you very much for your efforts.

Is there some kind of app like "Ventura App Checker" which checks/scans all my installed programs if they are compatible with macOS Ventura (roughly comparable MacUpdater)?
