My family has been using PrintShop 2 on our macs for years. The program was even on the App Store for a short time. I am now doing the round OS X upgrades to all of our computers and have discovered none of the various PrintShop installers work on Yosemite.
It is really is a old sad little program that hasn't been updated in years, However it has functionality and simplicity.

So my question is, can anyone suggest a App on the App Store that rivals The Print Shop 2 functionality and simplicity?

There's a simple answer to that question. If you prefer to stay with the same easy to use app (which has been updated, and modernized, with an increase in speed, built-in graphics, and many other features), you can purchase The Print Shop 3, which was released only a few months ago.

You'll see that you can either order a DVD (it's more than 4GB!), or purchase a download to get the app.
I have used Print Shop in a variety of generations since before I got a Mac about 20 years ago, and I still was using a Commodore 64. The Print Shop has come a long ways, along with the hardware that uses it.

I know this is a very old thread but I am wondering the same thing as the OP.
I did get PrintShop 3 for Mac but it is no longer compatible with Mojave.
They do have a PrintShop 4 but only able to be purchased through Educational purposes. So doesn't look good for ongoing support and upgrades.
Sooooo, I am also looking for a Mac app similar in ease of use as PrintShop.
What are some alternatives that are simple to use and easy to learn for the younger crowd to get them started?
TIA

Now this thread is even older but I was wondering if you ever discovered something to replace The Print Shop 2. I tried the one currently on the App Store but it's an appalling piece of rubbish; clunky to use and not backwards compatible for all my previous projects. Now with MacOS 10.15 Catalina, The Print Shop 2 will finally stop working altogether so I either don't upgrade to the latest OS or I find an alternative to The Print Shop 2.

Notice that there are two different companies that sell a product called "The Print Shop"
The one you have, is the one originally sold under the Broderbund name - and is the one that you see on the App Store.
However, there is another product, also named The Print Shop, sold by Software Mackiev.
Check it out - https://www.mackiev.com/printshop4/index.html
Both provide the classic greeting cards/signs/place cards/whatever else that kind of software might do.
The two products have similar results, but I don't think they share the same UI at all.
I've been using Software Mackiev's Print Shop for probably 10 years. It's at version 4.0.1
However, despite being a "major" update, released less than 2 years ago, it remains 32-bit software. I have had some conversation with Software Mackiev support about what the future holds. All I get is "we will decide if any change is needed"

BUT, I also remember reading somewhere that "The Print Shop" name has had some legal challenges, at least two companies claim to use the name, and that is perhaps blocking update progress. I don't know what's going to happen about that.
You might also find out that "The Print Shop" from Software Mackiev may not be available for sale, except to official educational institutions. This is possibly related to the legal problems with using the name. I'm not sure about that, and I have done a bit of searching about court cases, and similar kinds of news. It's not easy to find
Bottom line: right now, The Print Shop (wherever you get it) stops working on Macs with Catalina. I like Print Shop, using it for more than 30 years, since Commodore 64 days.
Try complaining directly to the support site for whichever Print Shop you use . Maybe it only needs one more person to get things moving.

It's been years since I thought about The Print Shop. Would like to know if there are any good alternatives.

Thanks for the reply, DeltaMac - plenty of information there which corresponds with my own findings. Much as I like The Print Shop for its ease of use and friendly interface, with the parent company's reluctance to move with the technological times, I am now seeking alternatives. The problem here is that you either have to compromise on features or go to the other extreme with complex apps which involve high costs and steep learning curves, such as Photoshop and InDesign. For now I am exploring Apple's own Pages and Photos apps, combining them to get the results I seek for the (not too demanding) projects that I previously thought only The Print Shop could achieve. I must say that the more I delve into Pages, the more impressed and surprised I am at what it can do when it comes to inserting text, objects and lines, manipulating them, layering, grouping, adjusting opacity, etc. Now if I could only find a viable alternative to Picasa...but that's another story!

How about Affinity Designer? (https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/designer/)

A couple of friends, who are professional photographers and designers turned me to Affinity Photo when I moved away from Photoshop CS6.

Each package appears to be around $50 USD or less.

They also have a publisher application that looks to be like PageMaker (Adobe) or Ventura Publisher.

Just a thought.

Ugh! I have MacKiev Print Shop 3 and have been using it for 20 years! I don't care what they name it, it is the superior product!! I accidentally bought the Borderbund one once and it is no good. If the duplicate name is the issue, I wish they could just change the name and move ahead with selling their awesome product! I'll pay twice as much as these things go for. Just sell it to me please!!

What do you want to do with it? That's really the question.
Do you want to print business cards and calendars, that sort of thing?

Otherwise, pages, keynote or libre office will allow you to put images on a page, organise, rotate etc and print that. You can put an image into a table and size that to produce business cards.
But it's much better to get that sort of thing printed and costs less than doing it yourself.
The printer driver will allow you to use photo paper and fine quality probably- depends a bit on the printer.
For most uses that's going to be enough. Quality is no different.
Otherwise, look for iBooks author in the app store.
It's a free Apple program and it can do a ton of things because it is a publishing application.
After that as has been said the programs by Affinity-photo, designer and publisher- are excellent and well worth the money.
But what exactly do you want to do?
