Is there another VLC-like program that people are using? I've had some issues with playback using VLC lately, and it's getting annoying, so I'm looking for an alternative that might be better.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Mplayer, Quicktime itself (with Perian), Plex, XBMC.

I recently switched to this also. I find the interface and KB shortcuts more intuitive than VLC.

    Lags and pixelation, mostly.

Thanks for the suggestions - so it seems to be mplayer vs. movist? Anyone else using movist?

I was using Movist and it crashed a lot for me. Also, it does not seem to be actively developed. Switched MPlayer Extended and it works well and is updated often.

I also prefer MPlayer. It seems to handle my mkv's better than VLC, and it renders .ass subtitles better.
