alternatives to itunes?

Through my own stupidity I recently lost most of my iTunes library. I had backups, but one failed, and one was loaned out to someone who needed a hard drive for something else so erased the drive i loaned him with the contents of my library.

So, now I am looking at having to reimport hundreds of discs, decode hundreds of FLAC files again, etc.

Is there any reason to consider using something other than iTunes? If so what?

iTunes doesn't play FLAC. If you want it to sync to an iDevice you have to use iTunes.

I was a LONG time Foobar2000 user on Windoze. Not sure if they have it on Mac though...
