alternatives to the iMac

im trying to decide which to go for
mac desktop pc notebook or pc desktop and mac notebook..

should I go the second option..
what are the alternatives to the iMac? from my searches.. there's no all-in-one that I know of that has a mid-high end graphics card (ATI HD 6970) as well as an IPS screen. I like the iMac's form factor.. but willing to settle for a separate IPS monitor and a small tower desktop with a similar graphics card.

anyone know any alternatives?

In general, AIOs are not ideal desktops. They cost a ton and have limited upgradeability and performance. I would definitely look into a tower and a separate monitor.
