spinnerlys Guest Mar 23, 2009 #2 They are normal. 1200 RPM for CPU is the lowest setting and can get up to at least 4000 (if I remember correctly). The new MBPs have idle fan speeds of 2000 RPM and can go to 6000 RPM if needed. PS: Take a look at the temperature.

M MacAndy74 macrumors 65816 Mar 24, 2009 #3 😉 From my limited experience with 2008 iMac's - those fan speeds are totally fine, in fact - quite low. Expect fan speeds to ramp up a little more during summer, if your place isn't well cooled.
