Looks like an iPad Air mini. I want an iPad Pro mini.
I love having the M1 in my new iPad Pro, but I think for something as small as the mini, I'd rather more trade-offs went toward lightness and battery life. If it comes with an A15 it won't be much slower than the M1 anyway. The only other feature of the Pro I would crave would be the speakers.

Now that it’s clear to me that Apple does not want to make the iPad OS a general purpose productivity OS and the iMac is turned into a desktop toy, I’m inclined to downgrade to non Pro iPad , maybe the Mini, and leave the iMac to go back to a laptop.

I was really looking towards a professional desktop device with the iMac paired with a professional tablet for mobility. Apple seams to have chosen otherwise. Kept the iPad OS as toy and downgraded the iMacs to one.

I have no need for a professional laptop paired with a “professional” tablet much less a “professional” tablet paired with a desktop toy.
That "desktop toy" is a joy to use for video editing compared to 2-year-old $3,000 laptops.

I can't understand why Apple won't make USB-C standard across all their devices. Why is the company still clinging to Lightning for the iPhone?
Because then they wouldn’t get away with not putting a power adapter in the box so easily! The excuse of everyone already has loads of them might not be so easy to get across

I am having the exact same prognosis. Especially as the iPads aren‘t listed on EEC yet.

I‘d further expect an A15 chip and what I really find a GENIUS move from Apple is the relocation of the buttons. Now they can support the Gen 2 Applepencil because otherwise the buttons on the side would have been covered. (Additionally they don’t have pressure to release a new Applepencil Mini.
Because revamping an iPad Mini and then having no Applepencil for the device would be horrible. So they had the following options:
1. Keep the Lightning port (what they never will. They will 100% go for USB-C) and make the Gen 1 pencil compatible - awful move. Old pencil being the only option for a revamped premium device - NAH never gonna happen.
option 2 would have been release a new Applepencil Mini just for the iPad Mini. And option 3 (which they problably chose) is relocate the buttons in order to have both sides free - one for a smartcover and the other one for the smart connector/Applepencil - AWESOME)
This leak gives me high hope they will soon release the Mini plus I think this is the final design.
You’re on the money here I think.

Touch ID in power button huh...copying Samsung/Android phones I see. Apple has fallen from grace to the point where I've preordered the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Apple is no longer a leader in design and innovation. Their products have become stale to the point of being laughable. Whether I end up keeping the Z Fold 3 or staying with my iPhone 12 Pro Max, I'm not upgrading to the iPhone 13 no matter what. First year in almost 10 that I've not upgraded for one reason or another. At $1657 for the 512GB Galaxy Z Fold 3, I'm actually saving $121 over what I paid for my iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB ($1099) and an iPad Mini WiFi + Cellular 256GB ($679) = $1778 and I get more storage, 88% screen to body ratio with the Fold 3 unfolded, and two devices in one. Apple needs a foldable phone option, they need to get rid of the hideous bezels on their MacBooks, iMacs, and iPads...and they need to get rid of the ridiculous notch on their phones. Never thought I would see the day where I would preorder a Samsung Android phone over the latest iPhone. Tim Cook is a glorified bean counter, nothing more. He is not a product guy. Sorry for the rant but this is 100% truth.

Agreed, what is with apple having thicker bezels on their cheaper products? Looks awful/dated
Do you remember back when the iPhone XR was released alongside the iPhone 10S and 10S Max? The XR had a larger bezel because it used an LCD display, while the 10S models had OLED displays.

Same thing here. OLED is still much more expensive than LCD, so everything sub-Pro in the iPad line is still using screen tech that takes a little more space.

I predict that most of the predictions on this site will turn out to be total BS guesses. They should change the name to MacGuesses.

But the iPad Pro is still using an LCD panel? That has thinner bezels

It makes total sense to have the volume buttons at the top to support the Apple Pencil 2 on the side. It's actually a tight squeeze on my iPad Air 4. To offer a new Mini without pencil support would be a slap in the face...

Power button TouchId, check.
USB-C, check.
OLED display... 🙏

I'm in as long as long as the height and width is no larger than the current iPad Mini. A larger iPad Mini would be an abomination.

The bezel looks similar to iPad Air 4. Just looks bigger because of proportionality.

Volume buttons have been shifted to support Apple Pencil 2/3(?).
Yeah definitely they Thad to move the buttons to the top so that Apple Pencil will attach properly to the side

Mini with TouchID on power button when the entry level iPad does not have it 🤔. Might be possible considering mini is costlier than the normal iPad.

Thinner top and bottom bezels… but the side bezels are definitely bigger than they used to be. Not a fan of the tumor on the backside, but I will evaluate it once it’s released. Still the best iPad size for me and my uses.

I really wished apple would stop focusing on the back camera. No one is making movies on their iPad. The big bump is super unattractive anf annoying to have a bump. Just make the back camera good for scanning documents. Make the front camera for video conferencing and video chatting.

You know that the Mini has always been a class above the regular iPad… it’s basically a smaller Air
