TheReef macrumors 68000 Jun 7, 2009 #2 I always try to get it right first without needing to crop, but for some lenses sometimes I find it better to shoot midrange for sharpness and then crop slightly to zoom as opposed to zooming right in. Eg my 70-300mm isn't that sharp at 300mm.
