When I first started using Apple Pay when it was released, it worked flawlessly everytime, but now, everytime I use it, the cashiers always have to tell me to do it again because it never goes through the first time. I hold my phone up to the terminal and scan my finger just like any other time and the phone gives me a done & check mark, but after that, the cashiers always look confused and ask me to do it again and it's always approved the second time.

It's starting to become really annoying. Today, I had to scan four times for two seperate purchases at Panera Bread.

Does anyone know why this is happening? One time a cashier told me that it was some sort of protection to make sure my phone wasn't stolen or something? Although, that doesn't really make sense to me. So I'm not sure if it has to do with some sort of security safeguard or something.

I'm using a BofA Visa Credit if anyone needs to know. Also, I mostly only use it at official Apple Pay accepting retailers.

It sure sounds like something on the card issuer end. I would suggest contacting your bank.

I've had this happen a couple times, always at the same place. When I was at Disney World, the lady had to actually press a key on the register first. Or at least that's what she told me when it didn't go through the first time. Buggy terminal implementation at some places, I believe.

Not all the cashiers are trained in what to press so that you can use Apple pay. In other words they don't finish the transaction on their side so you cannot finish it on your side. Things will improve Be patient

Maybe if the cashier actually hit the credit button when they are supposed to we wouldn't have this issue. Had to tell a cashier at McDonalds she had to press the credit button for it to work.

I'm pretty sure McDonald's turns on the NFC reader as soon as the clerk totals out the transaction. The clerk's gone off to get my order multiple times immediately after putting it in the register and I've been able to tap no problem.

Then I guess this clerk didn't know how to total out the transaction. And they think they should get $15/hr pft...
