is rumored for the iPhone 14 w/IOS 16.

Will the AOD be backwards compatible with the iPhone 13 Pro Max?

peace

You need new hardware for this feature. Sure you can put always on, in an older phone but then you will get permanent screen burn in and massive class action lawsuits. That would be beyond foolish.
What new hardware would you need? Please elaborate.

Current screens in Pros tick every box needed for ‘always on’ feature.

they don't ,13 pro max has LTPO which can go down to 10hz which phones have running it now just fine. Apple just don't want it on a display anything above 1hz basically like the apple watch

At this point everyone should know if you want all features at once go to android.

It will be less polished but you will get the kitchen sink.

AOD can work even on an iPhone 11. Apple makes choices for its consumers.

For those who are saying an Always On Display needs a 1hz display. Have any phones before 2016 had a 1hz display? If not, why couldn't Apple have an AoD on every phone that has an OLED panel?

Battery drain will likely be depending on brightness level and how much information you want to display.

I’m sure it will for obvious reasons. I’m not interested in using it personally as I don’t need information always visible on my lock screen. Hopefully it will be a feature that can be deactivated. For those that need it, it will be a great option no doubt.

It will likely work the way the always on screen works on the Apple Watch Series 7.

You can toggle it on and off, set brightness and choose what information that the screens displays.

It needs 1HZ to meet apple’s battery standards not that it can’t be done.
