There is "nose touch" method to wake up AW when other hand is not available, work 100% of time, if wrist turn does not work. I think most of us our nose tip is cleaner than our finger tip, so sanitary should not be an issue.

Except that you're bringing something "dirty" to your nose! Don't worry about spreading germs FROM your nose... worry about wiping germs INTO your nose! ;-)

I'm guilty of nose touch.

Having the display on all the time could add tremendously to the expressiveness of the watch. Especially if you can display a variety of curated content consistent with your current style.

I think this is why Apple is rumored to be switching to an LED based watch display. There is a significant power consumption decline with LED. Couple that with battery improvements in a smaller space would allow much longer battery life using the same space driving a low power LED display.

You can literally keep the current display on and watch the battery drop.

I would love my watch to stick with the current method for displaying my full watch face but revert to a power saving numbers display after that goes away. It would just be dim white numbers that would show me the time. No complications, no pictures, and if you can't see it in the sun, so be it.

I would bet my house on Watch 2 has this feature. Apple seems to be confident in battery of the next Watch somehow, the way they let apps refreshes in background.

I guess since some people buy regular watches to show off for onlookers, some Watch owners have the same motivation.

Could you imagine listening to someone talk with the Apple Watch lights flashing as they move their arms around. :) OCD people would be mesmerized.

Give me your address and start packing. No way the display will be always on the AW2. Not unless they go to a grey mono LCD. If it is thinner it will likely. Have about the same lasting battery as today's with a little faster processor.

Prepare to be homeless.

We shall see. More likely I'll have a nice new home.

For the bolded part I don't believe that at all. OLED is enough.

That is already how it works. It only comes on when you move your wrist or touch the screen. It isn't like anyone is asking for it to start shooting out fireworks.

Personally, I would be happy with a low power, black and white screensaver that simply uses a clock as the background.

Oh I agree, just thinking of the always on no matter what position your arm moves.

I believe an always on with just a White or gray time would be sufficient and very low power.

I think you mean the rumour of them switching to MicroLED. It's already OLED.

I saw the rumor, but I wonder if MicroLED is any less susceptible to burn in compared to OLED, which is a concern with always on display.

Logic would tell me that it's very possible it would suffer less chance of burn in or none at all if they are so quick to move forward with it on the watch when iPhones are still a year out from OLED.

At least that's what that kind of quick shift tells me. But who knows. I wonder if there is any info about that googling the company Apple purchased that is developing the technology.
