I've been looking at used Airs and the truth is somewhere in between our claims.I'd bet it's more like $100, possibly $200 max.
Of course the OP can swap back to the 256 when he sells his computer and use the 512 in the new one.

Given how much resales of MBA are now going for you are kind of screwed either way. Even my '13 512 rMBP lost value considerably now that I finally sold it. This is the first time I have lost a considerable amount of money on a Mac and makes me wary of buying a Mac laptop again. Honestly prices on Airs specifically have come down considerably over the past 5 years with BB sales of new current versions propelling consistent deals of 15-20% off MSRP. Makes resale market even harder. Wish the integrated graphics of my 13" rMBP could handle simple playback of uncompressed 4k video but thanks to no Crystalwell in a 1700 laptop Apple F'd us all.
I'm comparing to previous experiences. While this product has held its own longer than previous gen over gen changes, the integrated graphics has killed the overall longevity of the product. I think we are interested in different products as I really don't see the point of holding onto a computer for 4-5 years as its already outlived its usefulness. Your usage criteria must be much different than mine.Of course your 2013 laptop lost a lot of value in its first 2 years. These things lose value faster at the beginning of their lifetimes. Same with cars, a 2 year old car is much cheaper than a similar new car.
You're trying to sell a laptop to someone who can almost certainly afford a new one, so why would they buy yours?
If you wait 4-5 years to sell, then that's a completely different market, one that isn't affected by Best Buy sales or refurb prices or whatever.
