Am I asking too much of my Macbook Pro?

So I loaded/tested every tab in FF4 b12pre (around 200) and my total system mem use was around 50% of 6GB in W7 (no SSD) (w/chromium running 720p youtube and 15 tabs). Each tab was completely usable and quite responsive. I attached some pics below.

I would assume OSX could pretty much do the same as W7 in this regard. Any experience with tons of tab groups in FF4 on OSX?

Sometimes I get weird system issues when I have a lot of tabs open and my internet is spotty. It's just a hunch, but if your computer is requesting a lot of information from your network, and it's not getting a response quick enough from the web, it could give your machine issues. I'd be willing to bet it's not the RAM, but rather the servers you're connecting to on those 28 tabs that's giving your mac a brain fart, and consequently slowing it down.
 
Are you running any Rosetta apps? If you're running an older, non-Intel, version of Microsoft Office, that may be your issue.
 
28 tabs shouldn't be any problem. At least in Opera I can open three times as much in multiple windows without any problem. All with Flash enabled and even with quite a few videos running.
I have only 4gigs RAM and 2,4 Ghz Corei5.

I doubt that too many tabs is the problem and a few office documents don't change anything either. There must be something else wrong with your sys.
When I work on different things stuff for different courses on the university I often don't close stuff and just put it on one or two spaces. I sometimes have much much more open than what you state and no problem at all.
 
just for fun after seeing this I opened 55 tabs and could only use 1.05 GB of memory many sites had flash, many you tube windows and pages with hi res images. It was on my mac pro w/16gb ram and did not phase it. I cant see how 28 tabs could really hit your 8gb. It may not be the ram?
 
Well just the update my original post, I have not encountered the problem again even though I have been trying to recreate the problem again. Right now I only have 17 tabs open plus word (2010 version). The SSD I am using is the Kingston 128gb SSD Now. It's plenty fast so I don't if it was stuttering before or not.
