Are you silly for not wanting to patronize a brand? No I don't think so. You are free to do as you please in that regard. If you are asking if it's justified? I guess that's entirely on your opinion of how you truly feel about the brand. I personally feel Samsung is good at some product categories and horrible in others. So they're not my go to brand for most things. Displays and Computer storage is where they seem to excel at. APpliances not so much. Mobile devices 50/50 in my view. I've owned Samsung phones and they've ended up being disappointing to me. I've owned Samsung TV. It was cheap and on sale. I've since replaced it with a larger screen size. I've owned Samsung computer monitors. I didnt' think they were the best, but they got the job done. I have Samsung Windows Laptop. That's actually been pretty solid. So for the most part the Brand is sort of Mid tier good enough for some things. I wouldn't consider them to be top tier like Apple, Sony, Denon, to name a few examples. Though Sony has kinda lost some of it's prestige. So that maybe debatable. Honestly I can't think of a Samsung Item I feel like it's the best premium thing I've ever owned.

I was like that. I used to hate Samsung, especially because Steve Jobs was so passionate against them. I grew up though and learned to understand that we should be using products and technologies we like and need, and not look at the names of companies. All companies want to make money.
I use an S23 Ultra next to my iPhone 14 Pro Max and I like it better. Many years ago I wouldn't be able to say that. Samsung isn't that bad. Also consider that Apple is making the display of the iPhone. If you boycott Samsung, then maybe boycott the iPhone too, since it has Samsung components?
There is no logic in this kind of thinking. Just choose whatever product you like.

I have a samsung smart TV from a few years ago.

The TV holds up fine, but it has issues interoperating with my AppleTV, Denon Receiver, and FireTV Cube.

The TV is too smart, and tries to be the hub of activities, rather than allowing the streaming box. It regularly starts up and says "no device connected", but won't let me set the input to my AppleTV--I have to wait for this mode to timeout before it will. It would also get into a weird blow-out mode where all the colors were super saturated. (That may actually have been a FireTV bug, though).

Overall, I'd rather get a quality "dumb" screen than care about the janky user interface running on the TV on a processor that basically sucks for that purpose.

Why does appreciating Apple products mean that you can't own other brands? I mean, I wouldn't ever own a Samsung phone however my Samsung Frame TV is the most amazing TV I have ever owned.
Boycotting for what reason though?
Those of us “of a certain age” remember that Samsung came out with their “smart phone” not long after the iPhone was introduced. Steve apparently felt betrayed and ripped off; that Samsung and Android had basically reverse engineered the iPhone and was competing unfairly. He was very vocal in his displeasure and there were lawsuits that didn’t go Apple’s way. Understandable I suppose but was he really expecting the competition to play fair?!

I think most the tech companies are the same on not making long lasting or serviceable products, there is less money in it

My past few TVs have been Samsung, I’ve been happy enough with them, though I don’t spend all that much TV time

Got my fire stick running kodi on it, I don’t even use the TV report, just turn the fire stick on, TV boots up, only other remote is for surround sound and all that is used for is to just turn it on and off

I am the same way. I refuse to buy any Samsung product. I used to have a Sony TV. It was good. Just recently we got an LG 4K TV. Very nice. According to the reviews it was rated better than Samsung and others. Don’t worry about the smart TV aspect. Just don’t connect it to the internet. We just watch a few over-the-air channels and I use my Apple TV to watch movies and such.

We also got an LG washer/dryer and refrigerator and Bosch oven and induction cooktop. So far working well.

I’ve done business in Korea and to me Samsung just seems like an evil company. The company higher ups are often arrested for bribery and such.

There is nothing that I want from Samsung, but if I did I would not avoid getting it out of some misguided loyalty to Apple. I have zero loyalty to Apple, just as Apple has zero loyalty to me. Apple doesn't care about me AT ALL. The sooner a consumer recognizes this, the better. If I use many products from Apple it is only because their products suit my needs. I use their products for myself, not for anyone else. Look out for yourself. Apple is looking out only for themselves too.

Yes I remember the original iPhone announcement and the release of android. Who doesn’t copy to some degree? Is a reason to boycott a product because the company released something similar? I guess I’m not understanding why I got quoted in your reply when I was just asking OP why they were boycotting
