Anyone who thinks the OP is off base, have a look back through the thread, page 1. Starts off with a few ppl that are excited to watch a spying story unfold. Because stalkerish actions by an ex is awesome entertainment. Then someone makes a sexual comment assuming OP is a man. OP tries to correct that assumption and is told what Evs, if you want swing that way. Completely oblivious to the fact OP could be a she.

That is how the tone was set ITT.

He has info from the document (as I said). How would I know if he has the whole document?

There is no way to know if he has the entire document without looking through his computer. Is the info something that could be deduced or obtained elsewhere?

It would really be helpful to know if he has had physical access to the computer and if he knows/knew or could have guessed your password for it.

I'll pay you later ;) I'm kidding, thanks for being so kind and reading through the thread.

Couldn't have got it anywhere. He had physical access when we were married. Since then I have changed my passwords - all of them, but as I have said if he has a key logger he may have them.

Hi,

I think my ex has been watching things I type on my Macbook pro.
I suspect they have installed software in my mac that somehow sends it to them.

Is there anyway I can find out?

I'm running 10.6.8

Install and run the app EtreCheck from this link then post the output up here so we can take a look. The app will list all startup and login processes on your system and hopefully show if anything odd is running.

You will note the output strips your user name out, so it is okay to post here.

The EtreCheck output will look something like in this thread.

For someone who said they were "out" you sure are one who sticks around.

Oh noooooo you made the same silly little claim again "You seem more interested in sniping at people rather than solving your issue, but when you're ready I'm sure someone will help", please show where I have been unpleasant to people/posts who have tried to help? You cant.....wait......oh you still cant......HANG ON!!! oh you still look as foolish .... a tear...ohhhh So run along (as you promised) as your causing trouble (thats just what Trolls do).

I'm out of helping, not out of the forum. I'm sorry, I thought that was evident.

Either way, it doesn't matter.

Please show where you've gone after someone who was trying to help? Take a look at your replies to LostSoul80. I'm sure telling him to get his head out of his ass is a friendly greeting where you come from, so if so I'm sorry about misunderstanding.

You might also want to check your grammar if you're trying to score some sort of "burn". It will make you look less foolish.

You've very quick to accuse people of trolling, after adding snarky postscripts to your early replies and then claiming that a forum is full of tools, followed by increasingly more dramatic replies.

Like I said, helping you was something I could take or leave, and I decided on the latter. I didn't say anything about not reading the forum or replying to your posts though. I'm curious if you'll actually manage to get what you're looking for on a board you came to for help.

I am not interested in pointing out how to do any of those tasks here now, although it is very, very obvious to anyone who has ever even looked into any *nix OS.
I can only assure you that it doesn't take more effort than two clicks. Which again, you seem to regard as requiring some level of knowledge.

Regards.

But why do you assume the OP has that level of knowledge or has "looked into any *nix OS", this isnt about your level of knowledge (or mine), but theirs. Many users dont use terminal at all and have no skills to do so (see all the threads on here where people do, following some unrelated set of instructions and end up removing system fonts etc or worse).

The "overkill" solution appears the most practical provided so far tbh.

----------

I don't wanna help the OP due to the incredible amount of rudeness expected.

Shame 2 out of the first 3 replies did nothing more than treat the OPs request as a spectator sport opportunity.

But why do you assume the OP has that level of knowledge or has "looked into any *nix OS",

Hint: Mac OS X is a *nix OS.
Now that you know that, you may want to read again what I wrote.

Many users dont use terminal at all and have no skills to do so

You are missing the point, totally. :)
As I said, it does not take any competence to paste a string into a window, hit a key, and report the output elsewhere.
Often, the terminal provides insuperable diagnostic tools.

Hint: Mac OS X is a *nix OS.
Now that you know that, you may want to read again

Hint: this isnt about my knowledge level (about which you are starting to make assumptions), or about yours. Your original advice to the OP couldnt be followed, they gave no hint of having any experience outside the GUI - as many users dont, now that you know that perhaps look at your own push to use Terminal and realise not everyone has those skills. Its as simple as that. Continually proclaiming how simple it is just reinforces you are making this about your skills, not theirs - that is exactly what the OP was reacting to.

Helping people is not all a technical skill.

Hint: this isnt about my knowledge level (about which you are starting to make assumptions)

Assumptions? I pointed out that Mac OS X is a *nix OS for you.

Your original advice to the OP couldnt be followed,

Have you even read my "original advice"? I have never told anyone to type any command window myself. I have stated that LittleSnitch is overkill for what the OP's purpose was, and a simple terminal command would have been enough.
So no, nothing that I asked or suggested required any level of technical knowledge on anything.

Feel free to PM me about it if you need further help in understanding my post. I will not reply to you anymore in this thread, for the sake of others' help.

Yet another Troll and a claim that you wont be able to prove.
Show me where I have been "unpleasant" to people who have tried to help me?

I have only been unpleasant to the Trolls who want to cause trouble, like you!

For the first part:

Ok. I apologise for my initial post.

I can certainly see what state you would be in when you are seriously doubting someone stalking you, once again I truly apologise, I simply read your posts without taking into consideration what you must be going through.

Secondly, do you have a spare laptop/desktop? If so, compare incoming and outgoing traffic on that and compare the traffic going in and out with the one hat you suspect has a keylog on it.

Also here is a link to a thread on the Apple website regarding this issue, perhaps you may find some thing useful here

Also, perhaps you should involve law enforcement in this? They could find evidence perhaps.

How was that post helpful?

pttf! What you really meant to say is.....
"I think your a meanie for telling the truth to the trolls like myself on this forum, I also pretended to know about mac's and tell everyone how clever I think I am".

You've got some serious attitude OP. No need to be so passive aggressive in your language. Relax.

Well the first two posts mocked the OP pretty much. Mocking is a seriously messed up thing.

I really don't think we will be seeing Madam again...

Well, not until her next break up at least.

... Too soon? :)

"There are some very tech savvy people in this site." Agreed, thanks for pointing out the obvious.

" In this case they have obviously gone above your head and you have just shot them down." And where exactly have they gone above my head in this thread? They haven't and you just made a claim that you cant prove. In fact the only thing you have proved is that you struggle with comprehension, hop over to an English forum and study up.

"solution to your paranoia" Again, another claim ... *Yawn*

*Unless you would like to apologise but we all know that is not going to happen*. Apologise for what exactly? Telling the truth to the Trolls like you who have an over inflated opinion of their abilities living in the delusion that they are actually helping? Pfft!

To the people who are actually helping, I am extremely grateful and thankful. :)

Far out, its not paranoia when you know someone has a document of yours. Some things are just facts! If people were following you, that's not you being paranoid, its a fact that you were followed.

Either you're joking and don't want help or..

Clean install your system and start for scratch and you're done.

Or toss the whole mess in the garbage.

I didn't read through all this nonsense, but if OP is being stalked through spyware on the computer, the first course of action is to ditch the computer. So says Captain Duh...

It's just not complicated.

...
ps Artimus12, are you so fragile that you cant take a little come back at you?

WTH are you talking about? I didn't post anything before the link - so you weren't "coming back" at me.

I only asked that you lighten up on your response to others being light-hearted with you! If none had offered help and every response to your request was met with banter, I could understand your obvious frustration! but there was help amongst the jokes, So take the help & ignore the jokers. Your response proves that you can't do that.

Jeez ...uptight ...much?
