anyways this is what went down.

Before the launch of the 4S my early upgrade option was going to cost me $450 to buy the new 4S. I got my iPhone 4 on launch day and at the time my ETF is supposedly $165 which is the smartphone formula of $325-$10*months. 16 months since launch so 325-160=165.

Anyways instead of paying for the early upgrade I just ended up porting my number over to Verizon. I just got my final bill from AT&T today and I was only charged $90 for ETF

Sounds like they charged you under the old ETF policy (same as the current non-Smartphone policy, $150 minus $4/month).

The more important question is why you are concerned about it instead of taking the money and running?

EDIT:
For the poster above me, the math works like this:

ETF with new/upgraded contract on the iPhone 4 was $325. It has been 16 month since the launch, so subtract $10 each month, or $160, so the OPs ETF at the present time should have been $165. The OP was poorly worded.

This maybe a glitch because that was the ETF for one of my lines also. My friend and I switched to AT&T, got the 4 on launch day (we're on a family plan together though) and his ETF is $90 while mine is $165. He isn't the primary account either. I was going to ask AT&T about it so my ETF can be $90 also but I didn't want them to catch the glitch and readjust his.

I do think at this point, I would just pay the $90 and be happy, screw AT&T at this point.

lol not saying that I'm not happy with more money in my pocket but it just seems a bit funny to me

You should call them up and complain and demand to be charged the $165:D
