how many times do i have to say it's not the vram it's the gpu, the next revision ibook will have 64MB vram and it'll probably be a radeon 9600.

the only other option would be a 5200 but a doubt they would do that, it would mean a major logic board redesign.

I'd say wait unless you really need one NOW. WWDC isn't that far off. I think Apple will update iBooks between now and WWDC.

As for those who say the iBooks would then be too similar to PBs, that's the way it was when the iBooks were last updated. They were strikingly similar.

If iBooks get updated and PB's don't, I think the differences between them would be HDD speed (4200rpm vs. 5400rpm), max RAM supported, FSB speed, HDD capacity, keyboard quality (the PB keyboards feel more solid than the iBook keyboards to me), scrolling trackpad, Sudden Motion Sensor, etc.

Who knows, Apple might surprise us and even update the PB's along with iBooks. Double layer DVD burners in PB's and single layer in iBooks would be a possibility.

Maybe, just maybe they are desinging a new form factor? I'm saying this because they didn't update them along with the iMac updates recently. They are waiting. Possibly to WWDC. Since it's been so long since the last update, and way above average. Maybe we are in for a nice suprise. They are due. The iBook design hasn't really changed since the clamshell iBooks.

When I bought my imac from the apple store I had 14 days to return it, and hey also took back the RAM i bought as well. It si 10% restocking fee. As soon as the Powermacs were announced I just went in and returned it and ordered a ne PM.
Hmm....if I remember right, they will give you the opportunity to exchange if there are price drops in the 10 days after your purchase. As upgrades go hand in hand with price drops on the old machines...The only reason I feel I can say this is that my roommates bought the last TiBooks 3 or 4 days before the alBooks. They got the difference as a result of the price drop (actually, one took the money, the other upgraded). I bought mine 11 days before the updated revision of the PB's, and got nothing. Not that I really care - this is fast enough for everything I need to do. Besides, if I need more speed, I can buy RAM..
