So I went to sleep last night and when I woke up this morning my MacBook Air (A1466) had a extremely dim screen. No amount of tinkering will brighten the screen. So far I have reset the PRAM and also the SMC to no avail. So I thought it is time for a factory reset being all my files are backed up. Well to my surprise when booting holding option key and connected to my TV I get a scrambled screen that is white, grey and green! What the heck happened MacRumors? Did I do something? There was no liquid spilled nor am I in a moist environment. I hope some one can help me with this as my warranty has expired last month and Apple wants 20 dollars just to speak to some one about the issue. I am lost.....:(
Here are some photos of the scrambled screen. Please keep in mind the laptop boots fine into OSX it just has no back-light. And the scrambled screen only pops up when in recovery or safe mode. 16.03.00.jpg?dl=0 16.03.22.jpg?dl=0 16.05.15.jpg?dl=0 16.05.27.jpg?dl=0

So it only happens to the external connection?

Take it in to an :apple: store and see if they will look at it with you?

I only get the distorted screen when booting into recovery or safe-mode. Otherwise it boots fine into the OS. What would be causing this????

After a fresh install of Yosemite, the laptop came out of its funk. The screen is still a NO GO though.

As in the laptop screen still appears dim? Are you able to dim it completely using the brightness controls?

No matter where the brightness is adjusted to it does not effect the built in display. I have came to the conclusion that the WLED driver is out. I will keep everyone updated as I know more as I am shipping it off today.
