I recently got a new iMac and got 16GB of RAM from OWC. So far my experience has been fairly smooth, but I get weird hang ups from time to time and I don't know if it's my RAM.

Randomly, if I open let's say Word or iTunes, it'll jump in my dock maybe 15 times and then open. Most times the programs will open instantaneously. But every so often they just hang on open.

Just now I tried opening a doc in Excel, Word and Powerpoint for a project, and Word and Excel hung on open for a long time whereas Powerpoint opened fine.

I really have no idea what's going on. Do you think it's a RAM issue? How would I find out?

    Thanks :D

If you still have the original ram sticks came with the iMac, you can take out the 3rd party ram and put the original back. Use the machine for few days to see if you still have the same problems.

If the problems goes away, than is likely you have defect ram. If the problem is still there, there is a fault with the os or iMac.
