Personally, I LOVE spaces. It was one of the features that I'd grown accustomed to in various UNIX GUI's that was not present when I made the switch to a Mac desktop and I really really missed it. Now that spaces is here, I use it all the time. Combine spaces with multitouch and you've really got a winner.

Some apps don't deal w/spaces very well but they've gotten better as time has passed. Compare it to how apps freak out when you configure "virtual desktops" on Windows and the Mac problems are miniscule by comparison. I expect that spaces integration will only improve with Lion since it's becoming more integrated into the OS.

I wondered where my post had gone… of course it's in the other thread started today called "Am I the only one that doesn't like Spaces?"

OMG.

You can't be serious. I had two posts deleted from this thread just because I answered the guy correctly according to my personal opinion.

He obviously didn't see 4-5 threads on the front page discussing Spaces; created one with the same name in a different forum.

Great.

For me there is nothing that Spaces does that Expose can't do better. I positively love Expose and is the one I miss most when I have to do stuff on Windows.

But I can see how Expose would be less effective with a multi-display setup, maybe that is where Spaces kicks into high gear.

On a small screen (MBP 13), Spaces is a dramatic improvement to my workflow - I have just 3 though, and switch between them with a horizontal 4 finger swipe (thanks BetterTouchTool).

The only annoying bug it seems to have is if you have one app in focus in a certain Space, then switch to another Space for something else, then switch back to the first Space, that app has often lost focus in favour of another open app. Anyone else get this?

I tried to use spaces but just cant, its just annoying having to switch.

Whereas i couldn't live without dual monitor since you can actually see whats open. But the majority of the time where im stuck with 1 screen, i just 4 finger gesture and pick what application i want, which renders spaces pointless

And the op isnt moaning about it, he is just asking if people like it or not, so dont rage

EXACTLY! This is how I see it. And like johnhalsted said, I'm not moaning. I just wanted to get the insight of others on the matter of Spaces in general, not just the version that is implemented into mission control with Lion, hence why I made 2 threads. I didn't have time to explain this early as I was rushing to get to school and just wanted to quickly post this thread in the morning so that when I got back from school in the afternoon, the thread would have a sufficient amount of responses that I could read when I got home.

As I said, I was in a rush and didn't have time to write about why I'd created 2 threads and didn't have time to search, but I'll say it again.

I made two threads to get the insight from people that use Spaces in Snow Leopard, and in the beta versions of Lion, which is why I posted one of the threads in the MacBook Air section since that's the section that I'm frequently in and because I wanted insight on people that use it on the MacBook Air's, and the other thread in the Lion section so I could get insight from them on how they use Spaces and like/dislike it in Lion.

I didn't have time to search for other threads or specify why I'd pretty much posted two of the same threads because I was in a rush to get to school and just wanted to post this early before school so that when I got home I'd be able to read the responses that each thread had gotten while I'd been at school.

Again, sorry for the confusion.

I still can't figure out what Spaces does for me that Command-Tab doesn't.

And YES I've read all the replies in here. I still don't 'get it.'

I tried using it for a week once. All it did was slow me down so I stopped using it. A feature that slows me down isn't a feature I need.

Same here, except Expose seems to work perfectly fine for me. I actually am coming to like how Spaces is implemented in Lion. You don't "need" to use it, but if your desktop is just to crowded, you just open up mission control and click the + and you have a new desktop to go to, and when you're finished it's just a simple click of the "X" on the new Desktop you created to remove it when done.

Seems much better than the Spaces implementation in Snow Leopard.

I don't think it's useful. Expose eliminates that need for me.

I can see how people do find it useful.

Mind you I have a dual monitor setup, so technically that's the real implementation of spaces. So I guess I do use it, and I don't.

Yeah, same here on both counts. I find it annoying to have apps open in other windows. That, and I would have too many apps open and my machine would bog down to a halt. I like having everything in Expose, so I can clean up apps and windows when I'm done with whatever I'm doing.
