So i won't lie my eye site is not what it used to be but still when compared both of these i've noticied that non native 1496x967 vs 1728x1117, I know there is this 2x from native resolutio scaling thing, but I'm not noticing any loss or fuzzy text when using non 2x scaling, i know in the older days i did notice that.

If you are using one of the “looks like” resolutions, you will likely not notice any softness and it seems like your experience bears that our. At most it will look like a slightly more aggressive anti-aliasing. “Looks like” uses HiDPI modes to render a double res screen that is resized to match the native res. Purist (or those with very young eyes) may still prefer the exact 2x scaling.

The scaling modes below the 1:1 scale (which is default for the new 16.2") are running below native resolution, and are softer.

that is true for the non-HiDPI resolutions.

I use 2560x1440 for my 27" 4K screen and it is sharp.
I just set it to 1280x720 and the text was fully sharp though rather big.
Any of the "looks like" or HiDPI modes should be pretty sharp.
Maybe pure 2x is the sharpest but it is hard to tell.

Not as sharp as it would be in Mac OS X Leopard or Mac OS Snow Leopard with 3x scaling mode enabled.

1280x720 HiDPI mode uses only 2x scaling to 2560x1440 which your GPU needs to scale up to 4K for output to the display.
2560x1440 HiDPI is 5120x2880 which your GPU scales down to 4K.

3x would be nice for 8K displays (for 2560x1440 TripleHiDPI mode)
