I normally don't start or post threads like this. I upgraded first thing this morning and all I can say is, "what's the difference?" Other than Siri shortcuts, which I can see becoming both useful and popular, I don't see anything useful, or amazing in the update, maybe it's just me. The only difference I notice is the grouped notifications, which I don't really think is better (two clicks to see everything you want instead of one). I would have preferred a button that just gets rid of them all at once, like on the watch.

"Stocks" on my iPad. Before, the app was only on my phone.

And yes, there may be 3 others who are underwhelmed...

Performance improvements. Major. I don’t care much about features. I want my iPhone X to fly and work the way it should. I paid $900 for it (over a grand at retail price. Paid $900 NIB for the 256 X Qualcomm on Swappa). I want to get my money’s worth. Still wanting Apple to take advantage of OLED but they have yet to do that. Other than that, I am enjoying iOS 12 a lot more than 11.

External app support on CarPlay for Waze is the clincher for me. CarPlay also now supports the Sirius App, another clincher

The features are nothing. Hell, I'm even disappointed in the lack of new wallpapers! However, people (including myself) are reporting faster and smoother performance on every model of device whereas every other year people complained that updates "crippled" their devices.

I think the responses will be device dependent with the newer devices seeing the greatest value in this update. The performance improvements seem to be targeted at the 7 and anything else that gets a boost is just the cherry on the top for Apple.

That’s my only complaint, where are the cool wallpapers?
I assume the bubble ones are OLED only.

Exactly! I know it’s a stupid complaint when you can get any wallpaper you can imagine online, but it bugs me that Apple doesn’t even try with their stock wallpapers anymore, and the only really impressive ones are exclusive to specific devices.

I completely skipped iOS 11 and only used iOS 9 and 10 on my iPhone. This means I was introduced to at least two releases of features for the first time, as well as all iPad-only features introduced since iOS 8.

So, not updating to the latest iOS every year may seem unconventional, but does have some benefits. At least I wasn’t left saying “meh”...

And of course, the focus on performance over features is welcome, and what finally convinced me to update the iPad Air 2 in the first place.

Face ID is faster on iPhone X. I can notice it very well.

It was already improved back in some 11.X update (not sure which one), compared to the first iOS 11 available for the iPhone X.

Since I've bought this phone, Apple has noticeably improved Face ID speed 2 times.

Shortcuts is also another great update, a very powerful tool (that's probably going to be even more powerful).
