So far I like the Apple Music and streaming but there are some albums which are not available. I have several favorite albums/artists which I would like to add to iTunes but find that Apple Music is making a mess of things with them.
This won't fix real large libraries and is intended to just add the occasional album.
A specific example:
Kingdom Come, Kingdom Come (Self-titled album).
Even though the album doesn't exist in Apple Music, when I add this album into iTunes, it finds matches for several songs and uploads the rest. The issue is that the songs are not the correct album versions and instead are remixes or strange versions I never heard of, and they also contain their respective album art so the entire albums is inconsistent.
A workaround for now:
Delete the songs from Apple Music.
On my Windows PC I take the original MP3 files and edit the id3 tags using a program like Mp3Tag (can even be run in WINE on OSX ), adding a suffix of a (u) Other suffixes will work but I was thinking the u could stand for uploaded.
Here is an example:
Filename: 01 - Living Out Of Touch.mp3
Old Title: Living Out Of Touch
New Title: Living Out Of Touch (u)
Then I drag the album/songs into iTunes and it will fail to match (doesn't like the suffix ) and upload them instead. I can see the tracks are now Uploaded instead of Apple Music.
Note: In iTunes, if you change the file name back and remove the suffix then it will attempt to re-match those tracks after you do an Update iCloud Music Library - it will undo what you have done.
Works for me for now... wish apple would allow us to selectively upload files without them trying to match, or at least fix match so it matches the album version of the song.
