I'm having the exact opposite problem with two of my three watches (haven't tested my Space Black one yet). Both my S2 Stainless Steel and my S0 Stainless Steel's battery life has TANKED. I don't know if it's an app issue, or what...but I was down to 11% by the end of the day yesterday (usually at about 67%) and then my S0, which is what I wear overnight, I normally wake up with at least 70% battery and this morning it was down to 15%.

Tonight I guess I will spend resetting and re-pairing.

Wow unless you ran 20 km without your phone while playing music with bluetooth that sounds crazy

Could be partly due to some third party applications perhaps. Also, try hard resetting the Watch after the update by holding down the Digital Crown and power button simultaneously. It may assist the issue. It's worked for me in the last and others. Good luck.

Yeah...I did that on both watches and the battery drain is still the same. I just switched back from the Outlook complication to the Calendar complication to see if that helps. It's on the charger now, and will take it off before leaving work and see how it goes this evening. If it's not great, I will delete it and re-pair as new.

Thanks man - have done a few but my latest didn't go well (way too many energy-gels and a hot day) so I need to get past that point :)

I'm actually looking forward to try a marathon with the AW - have been training with it for the first time for a marathon during this period and it's been amazing so far. Battery shouldn't be a problem as long as I have my phone on me I suppose (have it on me for Find-my-friends for the wife and music)

Mind if I pm you a few running questions? I been into running since last August and have hit a wall I can't get past, looking for some advice from other runners. If your too busy I understand.

Both my wife and I are having the same battery issues that cwosigns is having.

She has a series 0 38mm and I have a series 0 42mm. I used to be able to get at least a days worth out of the battery. I had an issue with mine when 3.1 hit but that got fixed with the next update. since then, I have been able to put it on when I wake up at 7:30am, go all day with notifications, use activity for an hour, and still be able to put it on to charge with at least 25% on it when I went to bed at midnight.

Now, I put it on at 7:30 and I get the 10% warning around 4:45pm. As I sit here and type this, I have dropped 3%.

My wife's battery is actually doing better than mine, but still tanked compared to what it used to be.

Edit: Going through General settings in the watch app, has there always been a background app refresh?

Same here with my Series 0 42mm SS. I normally get a good days wear out of mine but since the update I'm lucky to reach mid afternoon. Haven't changed anything on the watch so it's not something new. I've also reset with power & crown but sill the same.

Of course - you're very welcome

Process of elimination with the power button and digital crown. Do you have a lot of third-party applications?

18 in total but none that have given me issues with before. It's a shame there's no way of checking if an app is running continually like you can check on the phone.

That's a good point. That be nice to be able to have the iPhone to be the source to see what applications are currently running in the background.

I can't complain though. This Series 0 SS has and continues to be one heck of a power horse. It's never let me down and survived countless showers. Okay, I may now have a bit of an issue but it's certainly not the watch's fault. Just a bit of software playing up.... No doubt in a few days it'll sort itself out :)

I have been impressed with every update improving the efficiency and generally the battery life for the first generation Apple Watch. I have High hope's for watchOS 4 which will be debuting in the next few weeks at The developer conference.

I *think* the culprit may have been the Microsoft Outlook app/complication. Once I removed it, it has been fine.

Interesting you point this out. Unrelated, I have issues with Outlook on my iPhone as well with background battery draining.

I had the same type of issue with the previous update as I noted in this thread I created: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/strange-battery-consumption-since-3-2-upgrade.2043042/

I would like to believe it was an app that caused it and it took several weeks to get my battery life back.

With the latest update, the same thing (battery loss) has happened and I have now deleted the majority of apps on my watch (40ish) and leaving just the 10 that I actually use to see if that makes any difference.

I can report after heavy usage this weekend (2.5 hour bike ride, 2.5 hours of playing street hockey on top of just normal wearing) this update has significantly improved my battery life. Usually if I go for a bike ride I have to recharge the watch as I'm always nervous about starting a workout that will go on for a few hours when I'm under 40% battery.

Yesterday, I finished my second workout with 45% after a whole day of usage around 10pm.

38mm here (but less than a month old)... currently at 77% after 14.5 hours. Before, I could usually squeeze out 2 days of wearing between charges (would be about 60-65% by this time on the first night, then would usually hit the 10% warning by this time on the second night), but now it looks like I'll very comfortably be able to do 2 days.

Like I said before, I don't really care if I charge my Apple Watch 42 mm Series 2 every night, at long as it last all day, but I've got to say, the update is really impressive.

I disconnect the AW around 10 am, after 4 or 5 hours still said 100%, I thought there was something wrong with it but no, it showed 99% around 6 pm, by 8 pm it had 97%, that's when I went for a run and had my Powerbeats 2 connected and play some music for about 40 minutes while running, by 11:59 pm it had 72%, the workout took a lot of battery, Sunday I will test the battery life without working out, so, I'm pretty sure at this rate it will last until Friday night, not sure if it will make it until Saturday night but will see. (Also, today I didn't get as many WhatsApp notifications, might be a factor).

This was interesting to me because if Apple can keep on getting better battery life and then physically put a better one on the "Series 3", it could last a whole week, now that would be awesome, one charge a week.

May I ask how you got the battery information for both the iPhone and the watch on your lock screen?

My original SS battery is somewhat strange after the update. For the two hours or so it stays at 100%, then it goes down and I would say overall battery life is about the same as before. Looks like it was tweaked to show more in the beginning to give the impression of improved battery life?

It's not the lock screen, it's the "Today View" (guess you can see it in the lock screen too, I have it disabled) where the widgets are when you swipe right on the home screen, you just have to add the "Batteries" widget and put it on top of the list, also, when you connect bluetooth earphones they appear there too.

Also, the "Batteries" widget only appears when you have a device connected.

Thank you, found it!
