This has never happened prior to iOS9, or perhaps it's the latest version of the Amazon app but I find it extremely annoying that whenever I click on an Amazon link or want to visit the full website, the blasted app opens by default in much the same way that the You Tube app does. There don't seem to be any settings to prevent this behaviour so I've deleted the app. It's a shame because I often used it, but I like to be able to view the full website now and again too.

Yes. I have been annoyed by this change too. I have uninstalled the app and all good now. Safari browsing on amazon is better. Somehow, I don't like shopping on app. Feels so limited and less featured than a proper website.

I don't understand recent push by online retailers to use their app. I mean they force us to use their own apps by giving 5-10 % discounts via app only.

It's because of all the blockers everyone is running on their browsers these days are shutting down the trackers too. It's the only way to track us now, and they want to track us more than anything else.

^^ Another reason I can come up with is maybe App development is easier than maintaining a website?

check the top right of your screen where the battery icon usually is. when a website forwards you to an app sometimes this becomes a link back to the website. much like how the signal dots become a link to the previous app sometimes

You're so right, and it does happen/work with the Amazon app. Good stuff!
