I would be in heaven if Amazon could find a way to incorporate some sort of a "Podcast catcher" so I dont need to download the podcasts to my local computer, then upload them to Cloud Player. Since podcasts are usually free, there shouldnt be any legal issues there.

Instacast is a great iOS podcast player that is self contained i.e. you don't have to download them in iTunes and then sync.

Has anyone used mSpot? It's another free Cloud player that offers you 5gb of storage for free. I found the app while looking for a good music player for my Android phone and the site turns out to be pretty good. Their app is way better than using Amazon's interface too. I got the iOS app for my iPad... but being that my iPad only has wifi and I have homesharing it's a little pointless for me unless I tether to my phone... and if I did that I might as well have just used the mSpot app on my EVO. :p

But anyway... something cool to check out if you have an iPhone or Android phone.

What is "scrubbing" ?

"scrubbing" lets you find a point somewhere in the middle of the song without having to play the whole song from the beginning. Scrubbing allows you to play the song in reverse and at variable speeds. similar to "scratching" on turntables

I just tested it and it works fine, except for the latency with the at&t network (i presume). But I haven't figured out a way to get to the mobile version of this website.. is there one?

I still don't see the point. It's far more efficient just to have the music on your phone if you want to listen to it.

Mine stops after a song is over and won't continue to the next one while my screen is on sleep. If i unlock the phone it then starts the next song. Anyone know how to get it to play one after another while the screen is off?

Well. I don't have any more space on my phone since I have filled it with pictures, videos and apps so being able to stream the music is a huge plus.

Also, this way I can have 20 gigs of my music available on all of my devices and pretty much everywhere I have web access. Same play lists, same everything, everywhere without having to keep anything in sync myself.

what a complete waste of bandwidth and energy.

Anyone have any good reason for why I want to store 5 gig of music on the "cloud" versus just storing it on your phone or iPod?

Or you could just bring your iPod or whatever MP3 player you have. Nowadays they are smaller than a key chain.

You would never stream 5 gigs a month to your phone would you? You'd need an unlimited Data plan.
This is more for backup of your digital assets right?

Some of us do have unlimited bandwidth...

Well if you have 20 gigs of music, you would be able to store at least 5 gigs up in the clould which would leave you with additional room on your phone or ipod touch for additional apps and their resources. Or store additional books etc in the cloud and leave the other media on the phone. I think this is a good thing personnally.

apple will defiantly be stepping it up now, this will probably be included in iOS 5 or just with mobile me. whatever the case this is good news.

I wish I could say that they would not do that but knowing Apple they would do limit it to just the next device and even the fanboys would be hard press to come up with a reason why the older devices could not run it.
Hell even the 3G should be able to stream it but leave it to the fanboys to come up with an excuse for Apple.

I'm actually working on something like this that's totally free. With my method, if you already have a web host, you upload your music to your web host and access it via a JavaScript based GUI that let's you browse and play your music from the cloud. I prefer my way because I get unlimited space from my web host already so I dont have to pay anything for this. It works on iOS,Android and some desktop browsers.

Works, but royally sucks...

I can load the player and start playing my music, but once my screen goes black, and it finishes playing the song, it won't play the next song until I actually unlock the phone again. Any way to allow it to continue playing the next tracks in the background?

Sure it's not a smooth experience but here's why it's worth it: 0.69 downloads vs iTunes $1.29. Great thing is you can buy it and it saves automatically to CloudDrive then you can d/l to your phone when you get home. It's kinda like those ringtone makers. Having said ALL that, it would be nice if they made mobile versions of their App Store and Cloud Drive sites.

For all those with a huge music library today is a good day this will free up a lot of those music files taking up space in your hard drive. Also it just made apple step up mobile me. To be continued:D

and that is another once of those things that Apple's lock down screws you all over.
On Android I can download the song that I buy from the Amazon Music store straight to my phone and get it again when I get home.
Also from what it sounds like the App works a heck of a lot better on android and my guess is again those problems can be blamed on Apple.

Do you know that you can currently stream podcasts from iTunes in iOS?

kind of happy for this - this will bridge the gap until apple gets an announcement out there...
