Amazon today has a few discounts on the iPad mini 7, starting at $489.00 for the 128GB Wi-Fi tablet, down from $599.00. This is the first time since Prime Day that we've tracked all Wi-Fi models of the tablet on sale with notable discounts.

I could see them launching new products at higher prices, but raising prices on stock that’s been sitting in warehouses is nasty work.

Given the OLED price hike on past iPads it's going to put it at the $799 mark.

Right before the price increase my wife was deciding on a new tablet: Mini or Air. We both thought the Mini was surprisingly unimpressive in person, especially compared to the Air, and it really seemed like an older, lower end device compared to the Air (speed and display).

Unless somebody really needs a Mini now I would think it is much better off waiting for the new model at this point.

I had a Mini a while back and switched to a Pro for various reasons. I could be talked into a Mini again if it had 1TB of storage. It's a fantastic media tablet, at least for MY use cases. 1TB means all my music, a LOT of my books/magazines and, when traveling, a lot of downloaded movies and tv shows.

We cruising into uncharted waters. The OLED mini is going to be over $1K, and the iPhone E may be the only iPhone sub-$1K. Wild times!
