Apple's iPad mini 6 has returned to its all-time low price today on Amazon, available starting at $379.99 for the 64GB Wi-Fi model, down from $499.00. Amazon has every version of the iPad mini 6 on sale for record low prices today, and in every color, marking the first notable discounts on the tablet since Prime Day.

Besides the 64GB Wi-Fi model, you'll also find the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad mini on sale for $529.99, down from $649.00. Finally, Amazon has both of the cellular iPad mini tablets on sale at all-time low prices this week, including the 64GB cellular for $529.99 and 256GB cellular for $679.99.

Steep discounts on the iPad mini 6 have become more frequent recently as we're expecting a refresh of the tablet at some point later this year, or possibly early next year. The iPad mini is Apple's smallest tablet device and this model features a slim-bezeled design, the A15 Bionic chip, a USB-C port, and Apple Pencil 2 support.

Keep up with all of this week's best discounts on Apple products and related accessories in our dedicated Apple Deals roundup.

I love my iPad mini 6, I take it with me whenever I travel (to use as my primary computing device)

I was able to get my iPad mini 6 for $399.99 back in May of 2022:

The record/all time low for this iPad mini 6 been around ~ $399 for a while (coupled with the fact that this iPad hasn’t been refreshed since it was released on September 24, 2021)

It’s nice that Amazon finally has released a new record low price (of $379.99) but considering the iPad mini 6 was last refreshed in 2021, it might be best to wait to see if Apple comes out with a new model either this year (or early next year)

Want a bigger-screen "iPhone" than MAX at about half the price or less... with 5G service as low as about $25/year (yes, that's YEAR)? Able to save your big data hog options (like watching streaming video) for when you are in a free wifi zone? Able to tolerate NOT fitting your "phone" in a pants pocket?

Want your next phone to be "latest & greatest" for MANY more years than any iPhone... and thus not showing the "long in tooth" effect typical of iPhones because the iPad Mini model rolled out years ago is still the latest model that Apple wants to sell now?

Tadah!

I've been using Cellular iPad Mini to double as a phone since the 2, upgrading to a new hardware model after 8 YEARS... and expecting to upgrade my 6 to about 9 or 10 in about 5 more years. Buds to cover the ear & mic part of things, VOIP app makes it "just work."

Doubt it? Download a free VOIP app to your existing iPad, even if wifi only. They usually provide a free number. Call yourself or a friend on your iPad. Call yourself from your phone to your iPad number. Text yourself both ways too. It works, using the very same 5G used by phones... except data-only 5G is generally much cheaper than voice-text-data plans. When in wifi zones, use wifi.

Is this for everyone? No, nothing is for everyone. But this works fine for me and costs a LOT less than regularly feeling the press to replace iPhones (AKA "long in tooth") and paying much higher rates for data. Try some VOIP with your own iPad and see- that is, HEAR- for yourself.

There was a period of about 6 months last year wherein you could get the mini 6, 256 cellular (pink color only) for $629.00. Yes, I bought one at that price. When purchasing from Amazon it’s best to check the price on the various colors. Prices tend to vary widely.

I've wanted to try the phablet method with a mini for a while, but the cellular plans I see are always cost-prohibitive. I would continue using my iPhone though (watch connectivity, among other things), so I could possibly use handoff for calls anyway. Which provider are you referring to? My wife has a cellular iPad, and we are with an MVNO that doesn't offer data-only plans. I actually set her up on my uncle's Verizon plan since it's $8/m. This beats the $25/m+ I see everywhere else, for customers who don't bundle a phone plan (again, MVNO, so we don't get any bundle/discount at a major carrier for data-only).

A new one must be on the way soon.

I would’ve bought a cellular model, but having AT&T, I need 3.45 GHz n77 support.

I really hope this means that Apple will finally release a new model really soon. Maybe even with an M4 chip inside? 👀

Expecting the iPad mini 7 to finally see the light of day in Sept or October. It might also step away from A series so it can use Apple Intelligence with at least a M2 like this years IPad Airs.

How did you a $25 a year rate?

Echoing other posts, I sure hope a new model is coming. I'm mainly interested in maybe M2 coming to the mini, and some other colors. I can't name any other changes I'd like (at least that Apple would do, unlike adding full phone capability). I think it's funny for MR to post the sale while recommending against the product.

Favorite is Tmobile $10 for 5 months or 5GB of data, available only to cellular iPads. I've been using it for years. However, shopping around will find others from MVNOs.

And yes, anyone wanting features locked exclusively to iPhone needs an iPhone: Watch, CarPlay, SATT emergency text... full Apple Pay (only partial on iPad). Bigger iPhones have better camera packs though Mini does shoot 4K too. Mini VOIP uses E911 instead of traditional 911. Those are all tangible tradeoffs iPad Mini vs. iPhone. But one should expect some tradeoffs for substantial cost savings and much less need to "upgrade" (and the costs therein too).

For me, I like traditional watches: Watch doesn't really do anything standout for me that I can't do on Mini. CarPlay is nice but my car came with a nice system and Mini connects via bluetooth if I want to use voice turn-by-turn or make phone calls through the car system. I still happily use plastic- which works everywhere- instead of pay-by-device which still works only some places.

Besides the money savings, I carry one less thing (instead of 2) and IMO- all apps are better on bigger screens.

I don't care enough about SATT or traditional 911 because emergencies where either get used are RARE... and I still have E911 and others likely to be with me in any such event will likely have 911 too.

I thoroughly envy the better camera pack and the pocket-ability... but that's about it for my needs... and I don't value either enough to pay all the added cost for them.

Again, is this for everyone? NO. But it works just fine for me and I don't feel like I'm missing anything important to me.

With who? The data cap has to be super low

Tmobile 5 months or 5GB. I live and work in free wifi zones so I only need true 5G in between or when out and about. I opt to NOT consume streaming video or music when using 5G, instead synching movies/shows and music to my Mini should I want a dose of either when on 5G. In the free wifi zones, I freely stream anything.

If I run out of 5GB which has never happened to me, I can immediately spend another $10 for another 5GB. So even in some scenario where I would burn through 5GB before 5 months, I just spend another $10. Most people on "unlimited plans" do not get it for less than that... and they pay that "more money" EVERY month.

Heavy 5G data users will do better with traditional voice-text-data plans at upwards of $25-$1XX/month. I do MISER my 5G data because, again, most of my hours are in free wifi zones at home or work. In fact, sometimes when I run out of the 5 months part, I can just carry on with no 5G until I actually need it again... which can be weeks for the way I use Mini. When I do need it, I re-activate that option from wherever I am and have 5G again.

5GB would last me about a week. Streaming video eats data like crazy

Again, NOT for everyone. I have no problem with it. I don't stream video like crazy... or only when in those free wifi zones. If you had this option and burned through it in a week, you'd be renewing weekly at $40/month... which is still below what many pay for the traditional plans... and you wouldn't need a new "phone" every couple of years either since iPad Mini has much longer legs vs. the my$teriou$ "long in tooth" effect.

On the other hand, if you were motivated to save a lot of money, you might adjust your consumption habits to stream lots of video when connected to wifi and be a bit more miserly on 5G usage. That's what I do and don't really feel like I'm missing anything... but, I'm also in free wifi zones at both work and home most of the time. Not everyone has that kind of setup.

But to each his own. If you are happy with the total cost of ownership difference, go man go! It's your money. Spend it as you want to spend it.

Gotta make room for chips that can support Apple Intelligence, would not buy as I feel future software updates for all mobile devices will be centered around it. This iPad will loose software support fast.
