i bought one and replaced my apple TV. Its faster and picture and sound quality 2x more superior.

and that's why Android tv is coming right after the rumor that Apple tv is getting an update in WWDC… It's not just me.

Your logic is flawed because if you follow the same logic, WWDC and Apple TV refresh is coming just after Amazon launching it's Fire TV. I guess Apple is just copying Amazon?

Further - Google TV already exists. This is a much needed update. JUST like Apple TV is going to refresh their product and services.

But you first mentioned the non-existent rumored "iWatch" - and then assume that companies can produce products without any consideration to a timeline for development and production.

So yes. It's just you. You see what you want to see.

They probably do it for the same reasons they keep releasing all sorts of stuff (tablets, phones, vacuum cleaners etc.) - because there is a use for them? ;)

There are at least two alternatives to cable TV too: over the air signal and satellite TV. Nobody invented any other alternatives yet.

I can play the hyperbole comprehension fail and semantics game too.

::Insert passive aggressive winky emoticon here::

Satellite works on the same model as Cable TV. Just because it is delivered differently to your house (via satellite and not cable), doesn't make it an alternative. Over the air signal isn't an alternative to Cable TV considering it was around first and is the de facto original. It also doesn't employ any difference in addressing the current package and bundle broadcast TV model.

A real alternative example would be what Barry Diller is doing with his Aereo TV Subscription service. Saying oh "Dish is an alternative to Comcast" makes me realize you have no understanding of how antiquated the broadcast system is.

AeroTV barely offers any more selection than having an OTA antenna. Most of the channels I've never heard of and when I Googled the movie channels, they were recycled movies and shows from before 2000. In fact, it's actually IS a tiny antenna in a data farm that sends the channel content to a cloud server that you access via streaming. I don't see that as revolutionary. Some cities are even claiming it's illegal and judgements are underway. You just said that satellite isn't revolutionary because it's is just a different way to get the content to your house. How is AeroTV different? It's a small package of channels, not ala cart, that gets sent to you over the internet. It's an ota antenna alternative for people who only want the basic network channels.

FACT: Every court case they've been involved in, they've won. Not sure why you're even bringing that up (besides a way to deconstruct my argument); it has nothing to do with what I was discussing. Just because they're involved in legal issues, does not make it illegal/wrong/immoral/whatever you're claiming it to be.

FACT: I said alternative, not revolutionary. I can continue to play the semantics game. Again, your judgement of you not knowing specific channels/content Aereo streams is anecdotal and not really evidence for an argument against the service.

FACT: Amazon FireTV just launched and doesn't support many popular streaming apps yet. Why? Because it's a new product gaining legs. Can you use deductive reasoning and figure out where I'm going with that statement?

FACT: I don't have AereoTV for a good number of the reasons you listed above. But it definitely is the start of something new, different for the industry. Only time will tell. It is something I would support in the future as it grows.

WHAT I ACTUALLY SAID: Satellite is not an alternative. It's an antiquated system that works on packaging channels together and delivering them to you in bundles via satellite. Cable does the same via cable. A subscription to a broadcast television streaming service is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. If you don't understand that...

Go ahead and Google Barry Diller too. I'd love to hear your half responses to his efforts to change television as well.

Brilliant move on both sides! Amazon Prime streaming just took a big leap forward, and HBO still has all the new stuff exclusive to its cable and satellite providers. I wonder if Fire TV will have any extra benefit with this deal. At the very least, it answers why HBO Go wasn't on there right away...
