All iPads Amazon Offering iPad on 5-month plans

Has anyone else noticed that Amazon is offering their 5-month payment plans on some iPads?

That was actually 18 months over the holidays. 😛

Edit: I just checked and the financing offers appear to be targeted. Mine still shows 18 months.

I hadn't noticed it for iPads, but when Amazon started putting the Macbook Pros on sale, I noticed the option for monthly payments were present. When I look I also see the 5 months financing option now for iPad Pros as well.

Not the same thing. The 18 month option requires an Amazon Prime Rewards credit card. And if you have one of those accounts, great. If not, that involves applying for a new credit card and credit line and the subsequent hard pull on your credit history.

The "5 payments" option is a targeted offer Amazon extends to certain customers (their description uses a lot of weasel words, but I think you need to have been a long-time Amazon customer with no black marks/excessive returns/etc. on your account and a Prime member) where they divide the cost of the item you're buying into five charges across five months to whatever payment method you choose.

It's not a bad option, although it still strikes me as "if you can only afford this item by paying for it a little at a time, then you probably can't afford it period," but that's more philosophical than practical I suppose.

I think the 18 month, they just automatically offer to Amazon Prime Rewards CC holders. I visited the page when not signed in to any account and there's no mention of any financing offers. The only offer they show if you sign up for a credit card is $50 off.

I used to get these 5-month offers before on Kindles but lately, it's all been just Amazon Prime CC 0% APR financing.
