You also mention a basket: in Amazon's system, there is none: you take the product how you want it; directly in your hand, backpack etc.
Amazon's system has only one checkpoint for the users, but a system that would use RFID or iBeacons would have multiple checkpoints and require users to use specific equipment like special baskets or bags.
