    This is my dilemma...

I ordered a refurb MBP 2.33 from Apple. It arrived and had a number of scratches a knicks. Just got the return authorization. :)

I then saw the same MBP 2.33 brand new sold on Amazon for the same price as the refurb. (Amazon does not charge tax, hence the same price as Refurb Apple)

Obviously I would want to go with a brand new MBP but is going through Amazon safe and as reliable then purchasing thru Apple direct?

Yes, I've heard they're really good and have a good return policy, good luck!

If it's direct from Amazon and not a third party, that's a great deal. Go for it.

Just noticed that amazon says they have 2 left. This brings down the odds that I will receive a MBP with no issues. Also, I am worried that these MBP's could have been returned to them already. I've read a number of posts where people have sent back a number of items to Amazon.

I am a bit of a perfectioninst. Should I stick with Apple's refurb considering I'll have more options if something should go wrong again?

Does the Amazon product page explicitely say that they are selling refurbs? If not, the macbook you get will be new, no matter how many they say they have in stock. The bigger issue is that if they only have 2 in stock, the chances are greater that you don't get one of those and end up waiting a while for your MB to ship.

Another issue is that the model you are describing was discontinued by Apple over 2 months ago. I can't imagine there are too many of those still available for new sales.

I've purchased numerous items on Amazon, one being a new Macbook. If it is sold directly from Amazon, they are very reliable!

Has anyone tried to return a macbook pro to Amazon and got stuck with a restocking fee? What if you just don't like it (and don't feel like convincing them about a yellow screen or a dead pixel, etc?)
