still absolutely dumbfounded by their decision to not sell the case standalone
Not really.Best Buy has the same $199 deal and will take old AirPods as trade in. They gave me $40 for my old gen 1 AirPods Pro. That brought it down to $159. Which seemed pretty reasonable.
Pretty much. Are Airpods pro perpetually on sale?
yeah, I’m aware, that doesn’t change how stupid it seems to not offer a standalone caseThe H2 chip in the AirPods Pro 2 with the USB C case is an upgraded version - https://www.macrumors.com/2023/09/22/apple-on-airpods-pro-vision-pro-lossless-audio/
By that point gen 3 will be out or almost out and we can spend our money on a real upgrade.I won't be surprised at all when Apple enables "lossless" BT streaming aside from just the Vision Pro on the USB-C version at some point. There is $$$ to be made touting this feature which will cause people to "upgrade".
I do have a 15 Pro. And I didn't have the APP2. I had older gen 1 as I stated in my post. So I got better AirPods and a USB-C case. Which I found worth $159. Of course, your mileage may vary. My point actually was that Best Buy will take trade-ins, which makes it a better deal than vendors who don't.Not really.
If you paid $199 for the APP2 lightning, then you’re now paying an additional $159 even with trade in so that’s still $358 total spent just because you want the USB-C version.
It won’t matter that the newer one has the upgraded chip for the Vision Pro visor if you don’t plan to buy the visor.
Also doesn’t matter paying extra if you one a pre iPhone 15 model which still uses the lightning cable.
If you have the extra money, it’s your choice to upgrade.
Maybe try using the warranty option to see if one can just buy the upgraded USB-C case itself.
I won’t lie though. Having USB C is nice. I’m now one cable for everything.
