Take it with a grain of salt, but there isn't a better time for Amazon to do this, especially with Apple TVs popping up on their website

That person's "source" an Amazon support rep on chat support. That's sure to be completely reliable. :-/

Having said that, I do think it will be a huge mistake for Amazon to miss tonight's game by not releasing an Apple TV app today.

Yes I listen to AM and FM. Whom declared you the "its dead" commissioner? Our local stations do a good job and yes, ads pay for it. If you wiggle your radio knob a bit, it might work for you too. Just saying.
