I'm sure the purpose is to argue that a defect is, in fact, a feature, but... based on all that Amazon has said, it really does seem that this decision is, overall, a plus. Colors are great, etc. If the tablets were, say, $400, it'd be different, but they aren't.

The 8.9-inch HDX is nearly $400 at 379 for the 16 GB.

Yes, but that's the iPad Air equivalent. The smaller one (which I meant, but I was unclear about) is $229. Either way, it's a lot less than equivalent Apple products.
