My guess is Apple is “negotiating” to get a good market feel and will either block the deal or buy it themselves. Amazon wants the bandwidth rights.

There are regulators - the FCC in the U.S. Europe, China, and Russia have their equivalent. The major space agencies coordinate operations too.
Pretty sure china has only just started to coordinate a few months ago because of how bad LEO has gotten

Just yesterday I read that another one of SpaceX’s satellites randomly exploded. haha Meanwhile SpaceX is prepping for their IPO, allegedly at $1.75 trillion. (Seems way overvalued to be. They brought in like $8 billion in profit last year… versus Apple at over $100 billion.) I just don’t understand this world.

do you buy shares of Apple immediately after the iPhone 1 was barely released or wait until 20 years after?

now ask what if you knew no one can easily copy the iPhone 1 even after 20 years?

now replace Apple with SpaceX and iPhone 1 with starlink.

Amazon likely wants GlobalStars current and future orbital slots and spectrum for their own Kuiper (aka Leo) project. Both GS and Kuiper operate at LEO.

Apple owns 20% of GS, but reserved 85% of its capacity.

Amazon gets instant access and revenue stream. Apple benefits from not having to solely subsidize GS to keep it out of bankruptcy. Seems like a win win.
