I was thinking the same thing. It has been way too long between update’s.
Might give me a reason to trade up for the new model.

Almost all major streaming apps updated their apps within the last 14 days.

I still just don't even know what they could honestly release in the ATV space that would make me replace my 1st gen ATV 4k ... which still does all that I need and more, with complete ease

Awesome, I’m always grateful for better user experience on Prime!

Can someone tell Netflix to fix their “continue watching” glitch where I cannot remove shows from that list. I think it stopped working after that last update.

However, it does seem like Netflix has been releasing a new update about every 30 days, which is a marked improvement over how they used to treat the Apple TV.

It was working correctly

Well I still won't use the MacOS version, as it usurps control of total system audio--lower the volume of the app, the volume of everything else goes lower. Preposterous, invasive!

Hopefully Amazon has enabled SharePlay, or at least brought back their feeble version of it.

Seems a little better, but you can’t use the scroll wheel function to go backward or forward and there is no PIP option or enhanced dialogue like in the native Apple video player.

i don’t want to connect another device and juggle multiple remotes. will never happen, but it would be cool if that tvOS could be available as OS for TVs, just like android tv. say what you want, everything is running so nice in my Philips Ambilight. Prime, Apple Tv or whatever, all the Apps available in that Play Store. Heck, you can easily add your smart lights from Hue or compatible to the ambilght and have your living room so immersive.

license tvOS to some exclusive or premium makers or even Build your own branded tv, come on Apple, how hard could this be? put that box as software right into the tv sets, 3 sizes, 50, 65, 75, or make it a OS -running on a bundled ready-to-use M or A based SoC - the well known tv makers can buy and license and build a Apple TV that is actually a TV, not some device you have to plug in a HDMI port on your real tv. yes i know, rather hell will freeze over, but this way they would make money from people like me, who want all in one. selling to makers still is better than selling nothing to Customer, so why not?

just easy FF fast forward and RW re-wind.. or skip back and forward, etc. With the older ATV remote it was near impossible,
Oh, you mean "scrubbing" through video? That's probably the more common term. The native ATV video player used with the newer ATV remote does this brilliantly if you run your finger around that outer circle. I remember it working decently well with the horrible old touchpad ATV remote, but it could get finicky sometimes, for sure.

Amazon's previous solution absolutely sucked: repeatedly pressing the FF/RW buttons to get to "2x, 4x..." etc as little squares flickered by. Just awful -- and completely unnecessary given the ATV's excellent built-in player.

Well, enjoy I guess. I never touch my Samsung's native interface because it's horrible, and the Apple TV does absolutely everything I need. The TV even powers on when I power on the Apple TV, so the only time I actually need the Samsung remote is when I turn it off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hopefully they’ve improved language support?

For foreign-language content, I generally prefer to listen to the original soundtrack with subtitles, not a bad dub. Apple TV and Netflix handle this quite well and remember my preference, but Prime Video never does and I have to manually select the soundtrack and subtitles settings every time…

It’s so hard to find stuff to watch in Prime. They have so much garbage. And now half of what they show you requires some other service. I want to be able to filter on IMDB rating and exclude non free content.

See, why not tvos built in, they seem to got it right, Samsung not. It would be a nice option, Choice is good. But i am happy as it is, just weird running the Apple TV on a tv running off android tv, 😂 but hey, life could be worse

Ooh, with all these updates they’re bringing, maybe they’ll get rid of their own apps now and release their services as channels for true a *true* native experience! A guy can dream :p

Nice to see the update. Should make it smoother to fast forward and rewind through the shows. Happy to see this version.

If that existed, I'd possibly buy it -- but then again it's very easy and inexpensive to plug an Apple TV box into any TV set on the market that has an HDMI port.
