Amazon today announced its second Prime Day event of the year, called "Prime Big Deal Days" and running October 8-9. Amazon has been hosting two Prime Day events every year (typically in July and October) for a few years now, and the October event is always presented as your first access to the best discounts of the upcoming holiday season.

Shoppers can expect massive discounts on an array of products, including Apple devices. Some deals will last the entire run of the sale, but there will also be lightning deals that drop every 30 minutes and last for select periods, or until they sell out.

To get in on these Prime Day deals, you will need to be an Amazon Prime member. If you aren't, you can join Prime to participate in this year's Prime Big Deal Days. Once your initial free trial is over, Prime membership will run for $14.99/month or $139/year. For students, that's $7.49/month or $69/year, with a six month free trial for new students.

Amazon is already highlighting early Prime Big Deal Days savings that you can shop now, weeks ahead of the event. For now, this mainly includes Amazon devices like Kindles, Echo Dot, Fire TVs, and other Amazon branded products.

Once the event kicks off, Amazon's website will be filled with lightning deals on everything from tech products to home appliances, clothing, toys, and much more. We'll be covering all of the best deals you can get throughout Prime Day, particularly on all of the Apple products that appear, so be sure to keep an eye on the MacRumors front page starting October 8.

Prime Big Deal Days 2024 begins October 8 for Prime members in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, and for the first time, Turkey. Prime members in Japan will be able to shop Prime Big Deal Days at some time later in October.

Head to our full Deals Roundup to get caught up with all of the latest deals and discounts that we've been tracking over the past week.

Prime Day sale? But 8 and 9 aren't even Prime. Should be Oct. 2 - 3 as they are Prime.

14-inch MacBook Pro M3 Pro 16/512 for $1,299.00? 🤞 Come on, Amazon. Just blow them out before the M4 drops.

As much as I like a good "bargain", these are getting ridiculous!

So there is now an extra Prime Day between the July Prime Day and the Black Friday Sale?

At this rate they'll be having monthly sales. (Which seems to have happened to the UK High Street shops. Continual Sales… sales… then the poster in the window… Shop To Let.)

Do not buy Amazon devices (Alexa, Fire, Kindle, etc.). They are all spying devices that Amazon uses to collect data about you. If you want to use them, Amazon should be giving them to you for free and paying you for the data they collect.

Meaningless. Consider last "prime day" in July, for example. MacBook Air's marked down up to $200! Well, ok, except now they're marked down up to $250 ...

At best you can expect prices to rise before prime day so they can legally market it as a sale.

We're approaching a point of sale hype lunacy. Consider "black Friday in July" which so many retailers participated in. What they're telegraphing is that sales are now simply all year round. October Prime day now? With "early deals" in mid-September? With deals likely (as before) extended also afterwards? Ok, so "Prime Day" can officially occur whenever they want and be for as many "days" as they want. Noted.

There is no such thing as a timed sale anymore. Not unless you're buying Halloween candy on Thanksgiving, anyway. Don't bother paying attention.

Just another day of cheap knockoffs from companies with really odd names and poorly translated descriptions and instructions.
So it isn’t just me that’s realized it. 😄 I don’t know why I thought I was be unique in that regard. It’s like, just pay someone $5 on Fiverr to do a good translation! Seriously!

I have been following the pricing trends on Amazon and Prime Day deals are typically never the lowest prices on items. Even Macrumors has posted several variations on the, "This is the lowest price we have seen," theme on Apple products, well outside of Prime Day.

"Shoppers can expect massive discounts"

Oh come on now, there's no need for outright falsehoods.

Prime Day is way overrated, items are constantly "on sale" and often cheaper than on prime day ... but, the hype is driving sales, that's really all that amazon wants ...

those arent airpods though. at this point you should get that people value being in the "ecosystem" and paying the price for that
That's fine and I'm "in the ecosystem" as well as I own Airpods Pro and countless other Apple devices (obviously).....but, the Airpods Max don't offer anything substantive or special for their price and are trounced by competitors in almost all categories.

What they offer is an "iconic" shape/recognizable form factor that girls love to show off at the gym or on flights. its all marketing. The sound is decent, theres always nerdy audio brands that have better sound for the same price or lower, but again, theyre not airpods. Nobody cares about the wordsalad Sony WMX-49t843953-4086B (White, US) lol

The Sony's may not check the "trendy" box but they sound better, offer more customization, and cost less, so within the cans community, people do care. I totally get what you're saying and sure, Apple is more than willing to sell some cans that are $250 too much, but for people who want sound quality over "look at me I paid $550 for these", there's many alternatives for same or less money.
