Are we expecting the M3 proc systems to have a limited life now that the M4s are out?

The current MacBook Air line up is as good as it gets. While I don't shop at Amazon, 8GB or 16GB with 512GB of storage should last a few years.

The overpriced at MSRP and perpetually ON SALE! cycle is exhausting

I hate this situation
Why do you hate it?

I'm of the opposite opinion. Yes, when Apple first started doing this a person who jumped early on something when it was first announced definitely could feel shafted by the subsequent sale prices. But Apple now has enough of a track record of doing this that prudent shoppers simply have to wait. (granted, for many, waiting can be torturous)

I can't be the only one who has benefited from this change.

Out of curiosity, what USB-C dock do you all use for these M3 Macs?
We use them with Dell WD22TB4 docks, so they're actually thunderbolt but work just fine with Macs. Only thing is, the firmware updates have to be done on a Windows machine, if they're experiencing issues.

Yeah this isn't a great sign. They can spin it all they want but when we are already seeing significant discounts on just-released high end products that's a clear indication Apple has a hardware problem.
I like my M3 MBA but if not for the dual external screen ability I would have been fine sticking with my M1, and with the M4 just announced anyone that was on the fence will most likely wait until next year to upgrade.

Because you're not getting a deal ... they overcharge dramatically at MSRP and the "sales" are the prices these things should be at ..

But all the "sales" are at 3rd party sites with only standard configs

..and all the machines are locked down and non-upgradeable, so what you buy is what you're stuck with

So if you need a non standard config, you are basically bending over, touching your toes ... and letting Apple have its way with your.... wallet

FYI, I ordered the 512/16GB model, and the $49.01 coupon did not get applied during checkout, even though I clipped it. Amazon claimed that the coupon is supposed to be free Amazon Music, not $49.01 additional savings.

I had to chat with Amazon Customer Service and send them screenshots, but they would not honor the coupon.

Cancelled my order and re-purchased it, and the $49.01 savings applied in the cart this time.

No, I AM getting a deal. For example: when the base iPad has an MSRP of $329 that is not inflated. Buying it for $249 on sale is a deal.

How do these sales personally affect your purchasing experience? This is the thing that I don't understand. The base configurations of Apple devices may not be suitable for you, but for those they are for... they are legitimate bargains.

If it's because news of these sales catch your attention but are let down because the configuration that you want isn't on sale, then I can understand the disappointment.

slashing prices will be more and more frequent in upcoming months and few years... were entering a huge recession.

Even tesla is slashing their car prices.

None the m3 Mac’s are only a few months old
So were some of the Intel Macs which were still for sale, when Apple started excluding some features in OS updates for them. If they think they can make a big enough deal about the larger neural engine on M4 etc, my bet is they will start to do the same omission of some key OS updates from earlier M series chips very soon. Tim needs his retirement bonus.

Amazon today has every model of the 13-inch M3 MacBook Air on sale at new all-time low prices, starting at $949.99 for the 256GB model, down from $1,099.00. Every deal in this sale requires you to clip an on-page coupon and head to the checkout screen in order to see the final discounted price.

You can also get both 512GB models of the 13-inch M3 MacBook Air on sale right now on Amazon. The 8GB RAM/512GB SSD is on sale for $1,149.99 and the 16GB RAM/512GB SSD is on sale for $1,349.99, both of which are $149 off and record low prices.

These notebooks were updated in March 2024 with the new M3 chip and no external design changes compared to the previous generation. Larger 15-inch models debuted at the same time, and right now we aren't tracking any discounts as steep as those on the 13-inch MacBook Air.

Keep up with all of this week's best discounts on Apple products and related accessories in our dedicated Apple Deals roundup.

The article SHOULD read

"In response to Qualcomm's Threat from the Snapdragon X Elite, Apple has worked with Amazon to further discount the 13-inch MacBook Air M3"

Anyone else this today's timing is a coincidence along with Jeff William's trip to Taiwan to secure 2nm manufacturing capacity? Lol.

Just wait until the new process for physical printing at a MUCh lessor cost by Cannon's technology takes off!
