Amazon today is offering up to $100 off the 9th generation and 10th generation iPads, starting as low as $229.00 for the former model. Most of the iPads in this sale can be delivered as soon as the end of this week for Prime members, and by early next week for everyone else.

Starting with the 2021 9th generation iPad, Amazon has introduced a new all-time low price on this tablet. You can get the 64GB Wi-Fi iPad for $229.00, down from $329.00, and the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad for $379.00, down from $479.00.

This is the iPad generation from before the design overhaul of the 10th generation, so it features a Home Button with Touch ID, A13 Bionic chip, and a 10.2-inch Retina display. Anyone looking for a simple and cheap iPad model to have for daily Internet browsing should be satisfied with this one.

Moving to the more recent 10th generation iPad from 2022, Amazon also has a few solid low prices on these models. You can get the 64GB Wi-Fi iPad for $299.00, down from $349.00, and the 256GB Wi-Fi iPad for $449.00, down from $499.00.

Apple released these iPads in October 2022 with a complete redesign, introducing a larger display, USB-C port, A14 Bionic chip, and slim bezel design similar to the iPad Pro lineup. Although we're expecting an update to these iPads later this year, anyone looking for an iPad now who doesn't want to wait should definitely take advantage of Amazon's low prices.

It would be helpful if you’d explain why you regret it.
Agree.

For the love of god, please don’t get the 9th gen iPad. I bought it last year and I deeply regret it.
Why do you say that? I have one next to the bed for casual use (bought last year when John Lewis had a sale going) and so far it hasn't burst into flames, nor is it as slow as a dog…
I mean, sure it's not an M4 Pro or whatever, but it's hardly a disaster.

9th gen is the last one without a camera wart and with the old-school Lightning connector. I'm very tempted to upgrade my 8th gen, at these prices, but that will probably only buy me an extra year before it's obsolete.

And yet the mini is a freaking arm and a leg.

Why doesn’t that thing get any love from Apple.

The Mini was on sale for $379 last week. It is due for an update, but silicon timing's been an issue (read: expect one this fall with A18).

Agreed. I've been relatively happy with the iPad I got last year. I'm mildly annoyed that it has a Lightning port, but otherwise, it gets the job just well and I wouldn't get any advantage from what the 10 has to offer.

Well, it still has its audience. Like my mom, she doesn’t need the most powerful iPad (and the A13 is still a decent SoC), but what she needs is a 3.5 mm jack, and a home button, although I’m teaching her to use the gestures.

If found dirt cheap, is a good option. Although for getting a base iPad, if you can wait, I’d wait for the next iPad 11, hopefully with an A15 Bionic.

An iPad mini 7th gen with an A18 and 6 or 8GB of RAM would be a really sweet device. One that I don’t need and, having an 11” M2 iPad Pro, I cannot justify the purchase of, but… really sweet indeed.

Agreed. My kids use it for school apps and as a reader.

Dang. I just bought the 10th Gen 64gb iPad three weeks ago during the Prime Days and it was more expensive than this.

It's niche and very popular with businesses/enterprise that use it as an inventory scanner, service menu, or mobile terminal. They can charge whatever they want for it- doesnt need to be on sale.

Great deals for causal use and light games - both my kids use the 9th gen and never hear any complaints about it being sluggish

My prediction is that the 10th gen will be at similar prices when the 11th gen is released next month.
Where is this rumor coming from? I can't find any information, not even here.
No iPad updates in 2023 does mean something. Next month or October?
I have iPad 7 with 32 Gigs. That is a royal pain but I got it in 2021 refurbished.
Just installed iPad OS 18 Public Beta 3.
While I like many things about Android, my iPad from 2019 is the best of all my tablets.
It still gets updates. Can't say that about my Android tablets.
I could purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ for less than any iPad 9 or 10.
8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Just sayin'.
Apple needs to do better and stop selling 64 GB devices.

And I think the use case of “last ipad with a home button” which is highly preferred by many seniors makes it an ideal purchase.

Although I wish I could still buy a cover from Apple. 🤷‍♂️

Bought it last year for $249 as a gift for my 10-year-old niece. For her needs it’s perfect.

I have an iPad 10, and it’s a good option for casual users that simply want a good tablet. It is the iPad that is best used purely as a tablet the way Jobs originally intended. A third type of device that sits between the iPhone and the MacBook. I got the Apple Pencil USB-C for $69 on sale. For $299 + $69, you can have a nice tablet that allows you to take note and markup documents. So, it can be useful.
