web os is the next best thing to ios. it would be nice to see it survive. if amazon bought it what about all the cheap little fires out there running on a neutered version of droid??

    yes, please Amazon buy WebOS!

It would be great to have a WebOS based ecosystem. The cheap fire tablets have a heavily customized android and it would be easy to switch to a better OS right now. Amazon is rumored to bring a new tablet fully designe internally by Amazon. In combination with a Amazon owned WebOS and the Amazon ecosystem/cloud it could be a valid contender to Apples iPad.

Nope. Amazon just launched a closed version of Android.

It also still has proprietary products running Kindle OS. It's not going to take a third OS unless it has money to burn.

that would be amazing, webOS deserves to survive. Plus the patent portfolio is second to none.

Given that amazon spent nearly a year setting up their android marketplace for an eventual tablet release, it makes no sense for them to suddenly switch gears and buy webos.

Another thing, is cost. Why spend $$ for webos when they have android for free. They're not licensing google's marketplace so google is getting no money from amazon's tablet.
