Realized how stupid they looked supporting net neutrality in public yet was blocking the competition.
This is completely different than Net Neutrality. This is Amazon keeping competitors out of it's store. It always happened. You don't see Home Depot brands at Lowes.

Internet without Net Neutrality is what we had back in the 80's and 90's. A handful of Information Service Providers that charge for you to email someone on another service.

Amazon need to learn from Microsoft that it's more beneficial to business to treat Google as a partner than a foe. Big example is all the YouTube reviews that link to Amazon for purchases.

Between all the media streamers my personal preference is Chromecast Ultra since casting makes the most sense since it's not limited by app storage space.

"Over the last three years, Prime Video has become an important part of Prime," Amazon said in the e-mail. "It's important that these streaming media players were not sold for a period of time by Amazon so that we could leverage our massive worldwide online distribution platform to benefit our competing products, and also to avoid any customer confusion."

Fixed that. ;)

The internet without Net Neutrality is what we had right up until 2015. People stopped being charged for email many years before that.

Amazon has decided to once again sell the Apple TV and Google Chromecast in its online store, reports CNET. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the company is officially offering the two products as of today.

"I can confirm that we are assorting Apple TV and Chromecast," CNET was told.

There are new product pages for the 32GB fourth-generation Apple TV, the 32GB Apple TV 4K, and the 64GB Apple TV 4K. There are also two listings for the Chromecast and the Chromecast Ultra.

All of the products are listed as "Currently unavailable" right now, but that is likely to change soon after the listings are completed and propagated to Amazon's site.

Amazon first stopped selling the Apple TV and the Google Chromecast in its online store in 2015, claiming the reason for the removal was incompatibility with the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
Since then, the Apple TV has been unavailable on Amazon's site, but Amazon's original reason for not selling the Apple TV was invalidated with the launch of the Amazon Prime Video app for Apple TV.

Amazon last week introduced a long-awaited Amazon Prime Video app for the Apple TV. The new app is available on third, fourth, and fifth-generation devices.

The return of the Chromecast to the Amazon site comes after Google once again removed YouTube from the Amazon Echo Show and the Fire TV. Google said Amazon's refusal to carry the Chromecast and Google Home and its refusal to make Prime Video available for Google Cast was a key reason that it stopped supporting YouTube on Amazon's products.

[doublepost=1513340835][/doublepost]I checked Amazon this morning. No Apple TV yet.

Don't know if it's the right place for this post, but in the same time I'm seeing some interesting new prices on Apple stuff sold directly from Amazon. Here in Italy at least. Apple iPad PRO 256 gb Wi-Fi (€909 on Apple store) is being sold at €799 now. That is quit a good deal (not available until yesterday).

It’s sad that consumers get caught up in these chest thumping contests between tech giants.

I would guess it has a lot more to do with Apple just announcing that they're finally allowing the Amazon Prime Video app on their apple TV. More likely than not, this was an agreed upon compromise. I don't think net neutrality has anything to do with this.

It's kind of sad that Amazon is just an all inclusive market place even with competitors. They are pushing their store brand a bit too much.
Why do people even say this kind of nonsense? Amazon is absolutely killing it and literally no one could tell them how to run their business any better.

Umm, they never were blocking the competition, if Prime Video was available on the device, they allowed it on Amazon. For example, Roku has always been on Amazon.

There is nothing inconsistent with saying if they don't support our service, we won't sell their product and then after they do support their service, they start selling the product again.

Apple and Google never refused to support Prime Video. Both have an open App Store. Amazon could have developed an app for Apple Tv and Chromecast years ago. They simply didn't want to.

In 2015 Amazon suddently removed Chromecast and Apple tv from the store because they (Amazon) didn't make a Prime Video app.

Because if I'm paying for prime I'd prefer they carry everything and not have squabbles like this. I never even understood the point of this, they were upset at apple for not streaming prime but Apple has a platform where they could have just created the app??? Leave your customers out of your drama... and if that isn't possible at least let your drama make some sense.

What does everything even mean? So if they don’t carry Apple products you’re out?

Why are you jumping to conclusions? I'm just saying that this should have never gotten to the point where they stopped selling the ATV and affected their customers. They had the ability to create an app on the platform but instead blamed Apple for not making it for them?

You have no clue what the backstory is here and it ultimately makes little difference. You’re acting like Amazon is doing something wrong, but I guarantee you they made the right decision for the situation, as did Apple. Acting like you know what’s going on just makes you sound ridiculous.

OK buddy. I'm just going based on the news I've read about this. You're the one here making guarantees without knowing anything.

Apple TV is horrible if you think if it.

Probably the worst controller ever, half ass gaming abilities, and limited content. Plus, trying to use Airplay is awful for streaming any video. Thank god for beamer, plex, and others.

Would take a roku any day! I find my Chromecast more useful than an Apple failure TV. Amazon was doing the world a favour by not selling it. The days of Apple great products are over. Now long live Tim Cook and mediocracy!

AirPlay is fine, but the remote is genuinely terrible and the interface is built around the remote.

It has better gaming content than any of its competitors besides the Shield, Roku certainly isn't going to help you there.

If you have a semi-modern tv it should support control over HDMI, the TV will pass it's remote inputs to the ATV. Works great like this.

You can program the Apple TV to receive commands from pretty much any remote even without HDMI-CEC. I use a Harmony Hub system myself. The interface is built around the touchpad though - scrubbing, scrolling, and text input are not great with a standard remote.

True but CEC can be much more responsive depending on the TV. I've used a Harmony in the past and input lag bothered me enough to give it up. My LG's remote with the TV's CEC works way better than both the Harmony or just pairing the ATV with the LG remote directly. I can click through menus much faster. Only time I ever use anything else with my ATV is when I gotta type a password, but I usually just grab my iPhone for that and type in the password directly on my phone.
