I don't get amazon trade-in values for an iphone 4S. My black 32gb verizon phone had a trade in value of $400 yesterday and I check today and it is $225 for the same condition. Why would there be an almost 100% drop in value in a day? Anyone else having this issue? I luckily had the $400 value in my cart and did a checkout. Does amazon still have to honor the $400 value I had at checkout though?

also, it says I need to ship the phone by sept. 26. Yet the terms of the trade-ins state "Trade-ins not received within 30 days of submission will automatically be canceled"

so which one is it? Have never done this before so making sure I'm doing it right. I have to wait to get the new iphone 5 before sending in my old one so I can't mail it in a week because I won't have the new one by then.

thanks guys

if you checked out, yes they will honor it.

It's like this everywhere... once the iPhone is about to launch you will see price drops like that

if you don't mail it by the 26th they will cancel the trade in

I believe you mean it has fallen almost 50% not 100% :D

Anyways, I've traded in a lot of items to Amazon and haven't had a problem being 1-4 days later than the "7 days" they request. Having said that, they may be on the lookout now for people locking in higher rates and then shipping it after the iPhone 5 is released. The risk is on you if you want to send it in after 7 days.

I don't think 100% drop in value means what you think it does

that sucks. Guess I can't really do it then unless I have the phone within the week. I wonder how far it will drop in value over the next couple of weeks?

lock in today. you have 7 days to ship out. check again to see if trade in proice is same tomorrow. if its the same, than cancel your previous lock price and relock in same price tomorrow. that way you can drag it out more until your iphone 5 arrives.

it will drop significantly on friday

guess I'll just stand in line Friday morning and see if I can get one. I'm assuming being a few hrs early though won't help.

Yep, this is what I did a couple weeks ago because the price kept going up higher.

I'm assuming though the value of the phone won't drop nearly as much if I just sell it on craigslist? I'd be happy selling it for $350 on craigslist. Amazon just seems safer and easier.

I'm curious, I locked in my "Like New" Iphone 4 32gb for $250 yesterday and noticed that the condition below it was going for $215. I opted for them to just downgrade if they felt it wasn't "Like New".

If they do need to downgrade - do i get the $215 price locked in as well or will they choose something lower if the trade in price has gone down?

Not a big math person, huh? :)

wasn't thinking straight :)

what about this: could I trade-in my iphone 4S, and while waiting for my new iphone 5, could I buy the old one back from Apple and return it a few weeks later when my new phone arrives? Don't they have a 30 day return policy...

i got so lucky last weekend and sold my iPhone 4 for $260 cash. nearly paid for my iPhone 5:cool:

My 4s is in great shape except for the back upper corner is a little messed up. looks from a fall. No scratches on front or back. wonder if they would give me like new trade in..

That is not "like new". It's considered middle "good" which is a 60-70 dollar drop off.
