Amazon is offering same-day delivery on Apple's MacBook Neo in select locations alongside its ongoing $9 discount on the notebook. You can get all four colors of the 256GB delivered same-day in many locations, plus a few colors of the 512GB model.

If your location doesn't have a same-day delivery option, Amazon is still providing a delivery estimate between June 4 and June 8 on every MacBook Neo computer. This beats Apple's current delivery estimates by up to a week.

Apple's MacBook Neo has recently been struck by delayed delivery estimates on Apple.com, due to the notebook's booming popularity. Amazon's quicker delivery estimates are bolstered by the small $9 discounts on each model of the notebook, and Amazon is still the only retailer hosting these deals.

Following its launch in March, the MacBook Neo has become a big hit for Apple, with the company struggling to keep the computer in stock online and in Apple stores. As of writing, Apple.com quotes a 1-2 week delivery estimate on every model of the Neo in the U.S. and many other countries.

That's probably because people don't buy from Amazon due to their "bad" reputation on selling returned items as new or getting a box full of rocks instead of the item. Seriously if I am dropping that kind of $ on a computer I would probably go to the retail store or order directly from the retailer.

The Achilles heel of buying an unfamiliar MacBook from Amazon is their WTF return policy for these things. It must be returned to Whole Foods only. No UPS shipping or drop off.

That's still shocking to me that you could get a laptop that good for under $600. It's really a no brainer.

Insane deal!
Ehh.. the M5 MacBook Air was $900 on Amazon last week. Double the storage and memory, ~double the processor performance, plus many other improvements for just above 50% more cost. It will probably have a longer useful life.

$300 is nothing to scoff at....thats a good chunk of change.

Yes your right, but your getting 2-3 times, and in some cases 7 times the performance. Its a fully featured Semi Pro Laptop for $900 that can easily last 6-7 years, maybe more.

Anyways in the UK shockingly we getting much better deals on Amazon UK for the Macbook Neo, with both 256/512 models getting 6-7% OFF and in stock for those interested.

This is where I feel like MR has a tendency to split from the real world.

We’re all tech-inclined around here and see the world through that lens. Of course I want to pay a small price increase for a major spec bump. But I’m not the average consumer.

For Grandma, the spec bump is imperceptible but the $300 price difference sure is. There’s a lot of Grandmas out there.

I just think the Air is a better deal. If you absolutely can't stretch your budget by $300, I think the Neo is fine. I think the Air will have significantly longer useful life for most people, so the price divided by the useful lifetime won't be any higher.
of course it is a better value, but if it's out of budget it doesn't matter how good of a value it is...

I feel Apple has robbed us by taking away the EDU discount.
No worries, most other online retailers routinely hit the same sale prices or better. I typically go for Amazon when they're cheaper and snag the 5% cash back on the Prime Visa. However, .edu is nice for brand brand new products at launch and sometimes back-to-school. Not to worry, Unidays is by far and away the easiest "verification" service to circumvent. I got my Apple.com account"verified" in about 10 minutes lol..

But better performance that makes no difference in your use case is wasted money. As for how long the Neo will last, the target market should get 7 years as well if they want to.
