Can only one please confirm if the new Apple TV 4th generation has Amazon Video streaming app either already as a built-in app or a downloaded me app? I have two 3rd generation Apple TVs at home and neither one of them have it, currently we have to stream Amazon video via an Xbox One. Please confirm anyone.

I didn't think about that yes I'll try it, but does the ATV4 have Amazon video natively installed or via app pretty much like Netflix?

No. Amazon is supposedly working on an ATV4 app though. It was promised "within a few weeks" nearly 7 months ago.

No it does not have an app (either native or downloadable). The only thing you CAN do is to airplay (mirror) your iphone/iPad/macbook to the Apply TV. Click on the link below to be taken to the Apple Support page with the directions on how to do it:

You really should explore the forum search functionality, it avoids the asking of questions that have been extensively typed about already. This topic thread is deletion-worthy

Sorry for bothering and thank you for those who went the extra step. Next time I'll do more research before posting anything redundant.

To clarify: There was never any official statement or promise from Amazon. There was just a rumor that was based on something a customer support agent supposedly said.

If you have any other iOS device in the house, using Airplay works fine for the Amazon app. It's not mirroring - the stream is handed off to the ATV directly and the iOS device only stays in the loop for control.

I haven't checked myself but I've heard the only issue with that (besides the slight inconvenience) is it only passes stereo sound and not 5.1. Anyone know if that's accurate?

Thank you for letting me know. Yes I don't have an extra iOS device otherwise I would AirPlay them. Thank you guys.

Can't stress this enough, Amazon Video's app Airplay is NOT mirroring, it hands off to Apple TV.

I've found that Airplayng with Amazon Video isn't very reliable. At times I've have had to restart both devices and have stay in the app on iOS device. Airplayng fro other apps such as BBC's iPlayer, DS Video and Netflix work much better, once it started i can use other apps, pause and restart with Apple remote.

No. The content providers refuse to let us have it all on one device. I'm not holding my breath for Apple to build an iTunes app for Roku or an XBox either, but either would do. Especially now that the new Xbox has 4K. I'd take an iTunes app on my 4K BD player too if that's what I could get. It already does Vudu and Amazon. Of course then I'd dump my AppleTV...

Yes I tried it it does work the AirPlay thing. Only thing is that I feel like the iPhone becomes enclaved to the functions of the ATV3, so what I'm doing in the meantime is using the XboxOne to stream Amazon video content. We just switch HDMI input and transfer it to the XboxOne, so I see no reasons to upgrade right now to the ATV4 thank you guys.
