I am planning on purchasing a MBP 15 for my son for college. I have been waiting for the back to school promotion, but am wondering if buying from Amazon is a better deal with no sales tax. Does Amazon typically offer anything similar to the Apple back to school deal like a free iPod or similar?
Thanks

Amazon doesnt add an Ipod Touch as a part of the back to school deal if i recall correctly, but they may drop the price of their macbooks a little bit to make them more enticing to people.

Can't you purchase from the online Apple Store or the telephone service thus avoiding local sales tax?

No. Apple will collect the sales tax.

Amazon does not collect sales tax, but technically you're supposed to declare it when you file your state income taxes. 😉

Dose anyone know when the BTS offer is coming back into play? I'm planing on getting a new MBP in the next couple of days but if the offer is soon I might just wait a bit.

WWDC or whatever the next tech conference is called, steve will be there. Supposedly it will be announced then as no new hardware announcements are being made.
