Good luck Amy, I ordered/received mine a few weeks ago, paid $1439.

"Like new" - as described by Amazon Marketplace, 6 battery cycles, original Apple warranty which expires April 25, already ordered 2-year Applecare.

Call Apple have them move purchase - several of us have done this with Amazon Deals - If someone says they dont do this, they are mistaken ask for manager.

I scored a early high end 15inch for 1339 and then received 20% total purchase because of no iLife / 2 slight scratches / several broken promises from Amazon and several no reply emails. + 3% back from Amazon Card - My total cost = roughly 1040 - Love Amazon Deals

...and I thought I was good

First of all, I bow down to your bargaining prowess!

But what are you referring to here:
"Call Apple have them move purchase - several of us have done this with Amazon Deals - If someone says they dont do this, they are mistaken ask for manager."?

Let me link you to another Amazon Warehouse thread - https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1300374/

Call AppleCare - Explain you purchased an OpenBox item from Amazon Warehouse Deals and would like your purchase date moved to when you placed the order. They will ask you to email them the receipt of the purchase and your purchase date will be moved within 48 hours.

First person I talked with at AppleCare didn't know what they were doing. So be patient, kind and VERY PERSISTENT :)

If you need to refer them to the thread above. If you fail the first time with them call them back. 8 months different is a lot.

I'm in the market again for a 15" MBP after my early 2011 custom MBP 15" got stolen. Since I cannot afford another custom MBP, I have been browsing through Amazon Warehouse deals and came across these two listings:

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook...77EE7U53NWQ&s=merchant&qid=1327893154&sr=1-53

and

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook...77EE7U53NWQ&s=merchant&qid=1327893126&sr=1-11

The price difference is minimal and I can't seem to find any differences although the title for the first says (OLDEST VERSION) & the second (NEWEST VERSION). Should I just get the newest version? Let me know your thoughts. I'd appreciate it. :D

Old Version - High End
Newest Version - Low End

Just so you know the Old High End has been 16xx since Jan 2nd. Between Dec 30-Jan 1 it was 13xx

So it is fairly good price currently. It just jumped below 1600 2 days ago.

Cannot give you details about the NEWEST - I have not been following it.

I personally would purchase the Older model - Call AppleCare and they will move the purchase date of the computer to your Amazon order date. Giving you a full 1 year warranty. Also if it doesn't contain iLife Amazon will refund you money for that. See other thread you posted on "Amazon Deals in the Buying Advice Section".

Many thanks for your reply. Do you also happen to know if using an Amazon CC would give me a discount? Or maybe a Discover More Student CC? Thanks in advance.

Could you possibly tell me as to why you'd choose the older version over the newer version? Isn't the 'low end' of the late 2011 MBP 15" the same as the 'high end' early 2011 MBP 15"?

same processor - different graphic card (more memory) - larger HD

While it's the same base speed, it isn't the same processor. The turboboost on those processors are different, early 2011 being higher than the base late 2011. It's also the same gfx card, but early has half a gig more vram.

edit: I also got money back from Amazon after I purchased my early base 2011 15inch. I paid $1200 (free Prime shipping) and got $70 back because my system lacked iLife and did not have the upgrade to Lion. I then went Apple and had my purchase date moved for the warranty. I submitted it here and didn't even have to call or bicker to Apple about it. I plan on buying AppleCare from B&H later on. With the money amazon refunded me I was able to buy a sweet Ez robe case and still have $40 left!
