I would bet money that is this article was about an Apple product the title would not read the same

Please explain how this product was rushed. This isn't the first time you've attempted to speak as if this is some fact.

And how is Amazon first? There's already a market...

I think he's referring to a set top box which could also be used for gaming. But not only that, a set top box made by a company with the infrastructure and client base as Amazon or Apple. There's already a market, but the options out there aren't as complete as Amazon FireTV or the rumored Apple TV. And the ones that are don't have the capacity to reach the people both Amazon and Apple can.

I think you give him too much credit :)

To be fair, this argument is fair use for most Samsung products. That being said, it's a shame to see folks blindly applying the same logic to other competitors' serious efforts.

I don't know if it's blind so much as it being true; phones, tablets, computers and even Apple TV... Most products that compete in those categories are based on Apple's core concepts, features and/or designs. Even in Amazon's case, it pretty much is a copy of Apple TV. They just grafted on some of the features the Apple TV was supposed to get for the last few years according to rumors and made it marginally better as a result.

So while it's possible to one up Apple in features here and there, there really is no company that can define and influence an entire product category the way Apple can. If Apple does the same thing in the wearable category, I think the above statement will pretty much be bulletproof to everyone but the most extreme haters, like Dave.UK. :p

Amazon's Prime Cost Increase Yields Program Cuts

Without notice, after announcing a 25% increase for it's once Prime membership, Amazon drops Scripps and many great shows from HGTV, Food and Travel Channels immediately disappeared. A big chunk of great programming, once free with Prime, now gone unless you pay for it.

Amazon can keep their black box. They can keep their Prime service too. When my membership runs out in June, it's adios to Amazon.

The first Apple TV wasn't particularly pleasant to use either.

Bad software is a fixable problem without having to create new hardware. I'm personally still very excited by this device and am glad to see some really good competition enter the market.

Thats a very poor representation of the total Apple TV user base isnt it. Many of us in reallity is hardly any, 11 people out of the whole TV user base is laughably small.

Even funnier is - that without a down vote, he has no idea how many feel the complete opposite. And then there are those that don't use the voting at all.

It's a copy of the ATV? Well, I suppose that would be one perspective. But only if you also acknowledge that the ATV's media streaming capabilities are a direct copy of Roku, and the never-realized concept of installable apps in the ATV was an idea borrowed from Google TV.

Otherwise we can just call it what it is: A great collection of capabilities that were copied from several different companies, Apple being just one of them.

It's a valid statistical poll. The count's up to 18 outta' 26 - 70% agree with me.

On the other hand, I notice a score of ZERO for both of you.

As I said days ago, there's a reason why Apple hasn't launched App Store on Apple TV: they still haven't figured out how to deliver the rich experience we demand. Fire TV is just a rush first to market type product that will fail epic style.

"Rich experience we demand"?

I think most people would be happy with ANY kind of app availability on ATV.

Sometimes it's okay to start simple.

Unlike you - I don't care about popularity of my opinion

I thought Apple doesn't listen to customers and do things on their own. So what is this rich experience "we" demand anyway

Why Bother

As someone who was banned by Amazon and had three Kindle BRICKED due to an completely unrelated matter, I'd warn anyone against investing in any Amazon device or closed system. Not as long as they have the power to brick your hardware. You'd be better off with Google Chromecast or a Roku. Amazon isn't bringing anything new to this fight other than their name. I'll admit the stealth gaming machine concept is tempting... But will never trust them again.

Nothing to do with popularity - it's a statistical cross-section about what people think of their ATV experience.

No - your comments are all about how popular YOUR statement is. I don't concern myself with how many up votes my comments make. Clearly you do because you keep posting about the #s as if you need that validation. I don't need validation for my comments because I stick by them even if they are unpopular.

Was this for "excessive" returns. Because perhaps that "trust" is a two way street. I'm asking sincerely. The only people I have ever "known" to be banned are those that have abused Amazon's return system.

So you are using the vote from this forum thats so lame its laughable. Not every Apple TV user is going to read this forum or bother to vote you think 18 votes means anything well sorry but compared to the Apple TV user base it means nothing.

Well, as I said earlier, out of the 26 people who regularly read and post to MR - 18 agree with me.
