Ambient Light Sensors, replace?

I have a 1.5GHz 15" PowerBook. The backlit keyboard no longer lights, nor do the options appear in the System Prefs. Also the Auto brightness is the same.


Does anybody know if I replace the 2 light sensors the system will recognise the keyboard again?

I've tried reinstalling the OS, by the way.

Nope, if it was under warranty I'd have taken it to Apple.

Even if you aren't under warrantee I think that's still the only way to get them fixed, I haven't seen how you would even get to them on any website. They're going to slam you with labor fees though.

www.ifixit.com sell them. I'm not scared of dismantling my PowerBook, it's all quite easy.

Hmm I've never seen them on their before, and that's where I looked 😱 If you're willing to do it yourself then by all means go for it.
